Noddy, perhaps you should read this article from Continental on Tyres. We have here on our Tekna Dunlop Sport Maxx 225/45/R19 which are pretty decent Tyres now 5 years old (although used only 50% due to winter Tyres) ride well, wear well and were the Std Fitting here on delivery - Dave
For optimal safety and performance, Continental recommends fitting the same tyres to every wheel position on your car, so drivers should have the same brand, size, tread pattern, load index and speed rating on the front and rear tyres.

I'm with the QQ as built/standard Michelin stock and dumped the gunge kit. Now have a Continental Space Saver. I've used Michelin on other non performance cars like Ford because the likes of ATS do offers on them.
My earlier BMW I used Avon, because they certainly supported a comfortable ride... the 525i bathchair.
I suspect tyres are all much of a muchness...except price. Safety...well? Roads in UK are poor..dropped drain covers/wavy/bad camber surfaces etc. So I'm still looking at the "comfort" performance and moving up the higher wheel diameters impact there. I can't argue with Michelin and putting a wider tyre on is probably daft. I couldn't detect the difference in rolling noise dbs between them all.
Rain..tropical rain?
My son on his work push bike through Central London had water halfway up the crank yesterday. He said he had to watch out for popped off drain covers a lot..and saw some.

I needed new front tyres on my Juke and my most recent QQ.
I went for Avon ZX7 tyres on he Juke and liked them so much I got them on the QQ.
Excellent in the wet, quieter than the standard fir tyres and good value (I originally typed cheap but they weren't.....)

When I replaced the tyres on my Qashqai I went for Dunlop Sport Maxx for several reasons - cheaper than Michelin, quieter than Michelin, and they have rim-protectors. They were fine all the time except they proved HOPELESS in snow - for the one day in the winter when we had it (I fortunately live on a main road and hence usually don't have any problems).
However I always recently have replaced all 4 tyres at the same time. If I was only replacing two I'd probably stick with the same make. Note you must put the new ones on the back...

Had my fronts changed (totally unnecessarily) by Kwik Fit a few months ago. While in for a puncture they claimed that the fronts were worn, after about 22k on a 2 year old car. They were replaced with Yokohamas, but the punctured rear original Michelin was fixed and left on. So id ended up with 3 Yokohamas and an original Michelin at the back (near-side). After several near death experiances of my Kumquat trying to swap ends on me on wet or dusty roads on roundabouts and bends and wheel spinning all the time, I complained and got them swapped back to Michelins (on the front at least). Since then happy driving has been restored. The moral seems to be Yokohamas are crap. And not all round black rubbery things are equal.
Facelift J11b N-connecta 1.6 x-tonic in vivid blue. And a dual accelerator for my dodgy foot..........
Thanks all. I'm still baffled as to why the speed rating of the tyres fitted from the factory are 150mph +. Presumably Nissan got a better deal for Continental tyres.

You should always put the new tyres on the BACK - otherwise you risk handling problems. Kwik Fit were negligent!

I'm certainly negligent it appears.gloucester wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 8:42 pm You should always put the new tyres on the BACK - otherwise you risk handling problems. Kwik Fit were negligent!
My "old" rule is to have best steering performance from best treads on front. Steering out of stuff is the aim as I understood it.

wow, in 47 years driving I've never heard that beforegloucester wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 8:42 pm You should always put the new tyres on the BACK - otherwise you risk handling problems. Kwik Fit were negligent!
When I've had worn front tyres replaced the new tyres went on the front.
In the most recent cases (above) of purchasing the Avon tyres this actually was putting the "grippier" tyres on the front, so.....
