The dealer has just phoned to say my Tekna has arrived.
In advance of taking delivery tomorrow I'm going to pop up and check it out in case there's anytihng I need them to sort out.
As a Tekna it's on 19" rims - anyone got any thoughts on asking them to "downgrade" it to a more sensibe 17" or 18" (I assume they'd be amenable)
Better ride, better looks, cheaper tyres etc. I assume ther'e no issues with a swap, the rolling radius is effectively identical (within tolerance/guidance anyway).
Thoughts ?

During (most of?) the life of the J11, the Tekna could be ordered with 17" wheels FOC.
This changed on the J11b to 18" wheels FOC but that option disappeared from the price list in September 2018.
The J11b is available with 17" alloys but these are chargeable - currently it's £922.99.
It will certainly give a better ride, a worse look (I'm a fan of big wheels) and possibly cheaper tyres (I haven't checked) and is eminently feasible, but whether they'll do it at no cost (presumably swapping for a lower grade's wheels) depends on how well you're getting on with them. Alternatively you might find someone on here willing to do the swap.
You could in fact go down to 16" wheels as the Visia has.
You'll potentially have to declare any change as an insurance modification - certainly going up a size would be so it's logical that going down a size might be too. I've only ever had different alloys on a car once (540 on a 525) and that was declarable but FOC since they were the same size and still BMW wheels.

Sounds like something that should have been dealt with at the ordering stage?! Unless they have a need for 19" wheels for another customer, I doubt they would be wiling to swap them.
I have a Tekna with 19" wheels, and find the ride to be fine... a lot better than I expected tbh.

Agreed - if it was new I would have done - it's ex-demo.Sounds like something that should have been dealt with at the ordering stage
I'll stick with stock until I've driven it for a while - it can't ride any worse than the RAV 4 I drove

Remember the wheels (with tyres on) are comparatively large - so the ride is inherently better than a small car with small wheels since the 19" ones ride the potholes better.

Fair point - perhaps I should stick to what I said in another post and shut up until I actually take delivery.
We have had a Qashqai ('64 plate) and an X-Trail (66 plate) but we downsized to a Golf when we bought our Camper van

Terry, when we originally went to order our J11B we asked for the “Wind” 19” Alloys but these were not offered FOC in place of the “Diamond Cut” ones as Gloucester mentioned. Finally after waiting for the End QQ Spec, there was the FOC Option of the “Wind” Alloys which is what we ordered, but they are in Store as we have Giacuzzo Winter Alloys on now. I also hassled our Sales Guy and got the “Wind” Alloys changed from Dunlop’s to Michelin’s. The 19” Alloys on both our J11A & J11B are comfortable - I am sure you will be happy with them Dave

I had a 66 reg N Connecta for 3 years with 18" wheels and Bridgestone tyres and the ride/noise wasn't very good. I now have a 69 plate 1.3Dig-t Tekna with 19" wheels and Dunlop Maxx tyres and they are a lot quieter and a better ride.
