I am here on behalf of my daughter she as 2008 QashQai 1.5tdi.
A while ago she told me that car acts very strange when wet, going over drain covers or running the edge of a very wet road, she told me that going over wet metal road covers the car seems to lurch sideways to the left, she also said it does the same on very wet roads when the surface waters gather towards the near side. Strange I thought but today I went to Bodmin and back 122 mile round trip to pick something up for my daughter and she was right it was very un nerving especially in the wet, I have a Ford Focus and it is very stable in the wet with no movement, but the QashQai was wrong and it made me slow down to 55 mph on a dual carriageway A38 which I can comfortably do 60 - 70 even when wet. All the tyres have good tread and the car as just passed an MOT last week. I may be guessing but my first thought were over inflated tyres or shocks, anyone else ever had these issue. Thanks for reading

I don't think the MOT is much of an adequate test in some respects. The car is tested/inspected when its static largely. They look for play in the steering and damage all round mainly. Braking is tested at fairly low speed on a rolling road...of sorts.

You have a dynamic problem...when rolling at speed. Since its only in wet conditions it could be a manifestation of tyre inequality in that the treads are not the same? Perhaps its two things acting together...tyres and suspension for instance?

There have been similar problems reported on this site and swapping tyres side to side or back to front had been done. Treads shouldn't be a problem if tyres are physically identical and of same construction. Check them thoroughly. Rain tyres should be fitted the right way round for instance.

Its a problem dynamically so you'll ultimately need to find someone specialised in steering/suspension systems I'd say.

Dave, firstly welcome to the Forum. This article from Firestone hits on a few useful points, it might be worth a read for checking - Dave 😊
