We just took delivery of our new Qashqai. It is an Automatic. Our garage space is so tight that we need to push the car into and out of the space. There is no room to open or close the doors when the car is parked in the space.
This means that we have to leave the car in neutral with the handbrake off in order to push it in and out.
We have overcome the problem of preventing the handbrake applying itself automatically when we turn off the engine, but now we have a problem that when we leave the car in neutral and close the doors 1) an alarm starts that does not stop and 2) we cannot lock the doors.
Does anyone know a solution?

If the auto is left in other than park, my car sound off with an alarm until it is put in park. It is not continuous though only while I press the lock button on the remote.
Past cars Mercedes B Class, S Class, E Class Estate, E Class Coupe, G Wagen, 260E interspersed with Peugeot 406 and Audi Coupe.
