SD Navigation updated card

Post by balithbe » Fri Jan 03, 2020 6:10 pm

Does anyone know if Nissan are still giving free updated sat nav SD cards when car is serviced, mines due its second service soon, forgot to ask at first service last year.

Also does anyone know if this is correct for my 2018 Tekna + In case Nissan offer is no longer happening.

Thanks in advance 😀

It appears so

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT NISSAN MAPCARE™ PROGRAM AND SINGLE MAP UPDATES

I have a Nissan equipped with a Navigation system. Am I eligible to Nissan MapCare™ program?

The Nissan MapCare™ program offer is available on the whole Nissan range embedded with NissanConnect (with the exception of 370Z and LCV range except eNV200 and Navara) produced from 1st May 2016 onwards (1st June 2016 for Juke and 1st November 2016 for Navara). Vehicles that are in stock but were produced before 1st May 2016 (1st June 2016 for Juke and 1st November 2016 for Navara) are excluded from this offer.

I am not eligible to Nissan MapCare™ program, how can I order a map update ?

You are able to pay for a Single Map update and there are 2 options.

You can visit our Nissan webstore but you will need to install the map in your navigation. It is an easy operation and procedure is available with each product. You can also order directly to your dealer who can complete the update for you.

Can I update the Nissan MapCare™ system by myself?

As part of the Nissan MapCare™ program, the update is done by the dealer. First he has to ensure that the vehicle is eligible for the program and will proceed accordingly. The process is completely free of charge.

How many times can I get an update for my navigation system with this Nissan MapCare™ program?

On average 15% of the roads and point of interests are changing on a yearly base. Usually single map updates are quite expensive, Nissan is taking care of this for you for 4 years.

Who will inform me when a new update is available within Nissan MapCare™ program?

Your dealer will contact you when the new update is available. Please ensure you are registered in the YOU+Nissan portal (Nissan customer’s portal) with all your contact details. It is also possible to proactively ask your dealer if a new update is available for your vehicle.

Interesting last point - has anyone actually had a proactive dealer approach?

Yes they do provide an update and return the original card to you. The original/expired is in a MAPCARE sleeve when returned. However, I made a point of telling the dealer to seek an update when I booked the service. That was noted in comments on my service documents 2 months back. There is a cost mentioned on the service invoice of about £30 but is not applied. Also mentioned as not for resale.

I suspect after the 3rd service payment will be required?

Here's the update (V4) I got at Service last month. With return of original SDcard: (67 Plate N Connecta 1.6 DIGT)
Confirms that the ICE Head Unit is Connect 3 which appears (so far) to have satisfactory firmware. Version is F rather than earlier D.

My v4 card arrived last night from ebay. Was a bit dubious at first at £18.50, but it appears to be genuine.
Put it in a PC and compared with v3. v3 had map data Q1 2017, v4 has map data Q1 2018.

But it seems to be a big one - I remember going from v2 to v3 and not much changed, but now on v4 all the new roads near me have appeared (including the important one, Manchester Airport Eastern Link rd which I use every day and according to the nav I was just driving through a field).
