I certainly have that fault on a late 2017 J11b (Connect 3 headunit). Difference being I can only get a Sandisk Blade 8GB USB Stick to work (USB 2.0 FAT32). I have other major USB Stick makes and they won't work at all even below 8GB. They all work on FAT32/NTFS and Linux Ext4 with my computers.

In my case I suspect its a hardware problem and at the USB socket. The whole thing moves in the USB socket vehicle mount....loose.

In your case it maybe similar and including the USB cable up to the rear of the headunit. A place I have not gone to yet.

USB theory (data transfer) says that signalling and data is being physically corrupted. So the headunit driver will not enable the USB (serial) channel.

If your car is in warranty take it back to the dealer.

It's the same USB stick that has done 2 map updates on the car since I've had it (April 2021)

Local Dealer had it in last week to look at for a faulty door lock - and they said there's NO fault with the USB...

I've formatted the stick totally, to FAT32 - still doesn't work!!

Yet, it'll play MP3 files fine from ANY stick I put in there, FAT 32 or NTFS!!!!

I'll ask them again when it goes BACK in to have the door lock replaced!!!

Hows does the dealer know it works?

Get the dealer to prove it works with a USB stick they own when you collect the car. mp3 music is enough and formatted upto 32GB.

Need suggestion. I recently purchased the Qashqai 2020 model with a 2017 map version. I have been trying everything to update these maps to the current. I tried downloading it online but it only gave an update of a later version of 2017 and took more than 1 hour to download.

I have also tried to download maps to a USB drive, and then update it on a laptop using map update software. Every time I insert the USB drive and download existing maps from the car's navigation system - it only downloads a folder of ~2MB. I expect this should be much more in size. With this information on the USB drive, MAP UPDATE TOOL always gives an error "Something has gone wrong. Please connect the USB Stick to the vehicle again."

I have been driving with these 2017 maps for nearly 2 months and certainly feel maps are incorrect in many places.

Please help with this error and tell me how exactly maps can be downloaded onto the USB drive. GENERAL.JSON file reads "subscription_end_date" : "1913-12-25", does this have anything to do with not updating the maps?

I've still not been able to update MY maps on my QQ

Won't even update over WiFi anymore....

Just been out and re-checked mine....

Still says a "Check USB or Ipod error" and the USB stick contains the following files - all with ZERO bytes

And inside the MetaData Folder.....

However in the top directory of the USB it has a 1kb SrvUpdateFile.xml file which reads as follows:-
