passenger door wont open

Hi,I have searched the forum but cant find any info so i am asking if anyone has had problems with the front passenger door not opening from the inside,now and again it will open but mostly i have to go round and open it to let the wife out,looks very chivalrous of me but is a pain! i presume it is electrical and not a cable come off as it does open when you dont expect it to.Thanks in advance.

Both inside and outside handles use separate cables to latch/unlatch the door. Lock/Unlock is electronically controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM) to the door lock (actuator) unit. This unit controls lock/unlock and latch/unlatch AFAIK in one unit.
Your external pax handle seems to work ok. If we assume that unlock works correctly plus external handle unlatch on the pax door then the failure to unlatch with the inside handle is a mechanical problem. Either cable or within the door lock unit itself?
