TLDR: Would like latest available maps for J10/2011 Qashqai Ntec+ w/Nissan Connect.

First Qashqai bought last week - 2011/12 Ntec+. A bit tatty (on the lookout for spare interior trim parts currently, to make it look better) and a bit old, but a step up from my 2005 Almera:

Maps work, but the data is 10 years old, and there are a lot of inaccuracies (even in the single week I've been driving it).

I've been doing my own research into trying to bring the maps up to date (on this forum and on other sites) - it's a bit of a minefield but I ended up downloading Nissan Connect software.

It said I needed to:

Download map data from the car to USB Drive
Put USB Drive in my computer
Run Nissan Connect Software
Update USB Drive from software
Insert USB into car again and update maps.

I don't know if my car is too old (I suspect it is), but when I look for the option to download to USB, it's not there - the map info just shows the version (sd2-CONNECT_2011_EURv5 see images below) - no download button.

I have inserted a freshly formatted 16GB USB Drive into the USB port in the centre armrest (system briefly flashes up saying USB inserted), and the SD card is installed (removed to take image below).

Welcome to this forum.

Up until about 2018-2019 the only way of updating the maps is by buying a replacement card. There are several systems - make sure you get a compatible one.

Can anyone confirm this is the correct one for the OP's car:

Other eBay sellers (and others) are available - this was merely at the top of a search listing.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I've been having issues with the main dealer regarding the software update for my 2010 Facelift J10 Tekna.

I have purchased the latest SD card from the eBay link above which Nissan confirmed was the latest one. However, the maps havent been updated and its not recognising main roads which have been around for decades.

I took it to the dealership today (Wessex Nissan Gloucester) and they said it needs a software update for the unit HOWEVER they no longer do these updates for the J10. Only J11 onwards.

This cannot be true...can it!?!?

I'm desperate for a working built it sat nav. If anyone can offer any advice I'd be extremely grateful!

Thanks in advance,

Jay

Welcome to this forum.

Well you do have to realise your car is over ten years old now.

And Wessex, with whom I have extensive experience, aren't the most cooperative of dealers.

You could try again - but it took me just over a year to get a faulty wheel replaced under warranty, and three visits to get an extended warranty quote. Or you could try another dealer.

Hopefully the "radio specialists" on here might be able to suggest a DIY option.

Hi Jay,

Apologies in advance
This might seem rude or insensitive but….
Someone on here or on the Facebook group described a similar problem recently.
After some "to-ing and fro-ing" it transpired that they hadn’t tried to navigate using the new SD card. If I remember correctly the new mapping didn’t load until they tried to physically use the stored data.
That may not be the case with your SatNav but worth mentioning.

In the absence of an expert, that’s all I can suggest
March '22 - J12 1.3DIG-T 160 CVT Tekna+ with all wheel drive - Pearl Black
July '19 - J11B 1.3DIG-T 160 DCT Tekna - Vivid Blue
March '17 - Qashqai J11A 1.5dci n-connecta - gunmetal
September '14 - Juke 1.5dci gunmetal ascenta premium (red accent packs)

Thanks for the message. Can you please clarify what you mean by using the stored data? I’ve put postcodes in and the journey is all over the place. It suggested the journey time from Tewkesbury to Birmingham was 3 hours 🤦‍♂️

When I put the new SD card in, nothing seemed to download or update. After some research, it seems that J10 SD cards should work immediately once inserted. There’s no download button like in the later models with a USB port.

Weirdly, the map (as it was before with old SD card) is bringing up roads that aren’t even close to being accurate and motorways are in the wrong location. Bizarre!
