Hi

Apologises if this is in the wrong section.

We have 15 plate1.5dci blue motion quashqai. We seem to be having the following faults appear on the dashboard. Start / stop error, chassis system fault, red engine light, orange engine light and traction control (sometimes come on all together, other times it will just red engine light or just the traction control).

Hooked up to a code reader and it the mechanic said it is showing code for a problem with the turbo, he checked the pipes and all that appears ok. Cleared the errors and said it may just be that it needs a good drive and to see how I get on. I drove the car back home and by time I got home the lights had come back on, I called the garage who said I need to go to a diagnostics electrician and to tell them that the code I have is indicating we could potentially have a “splitting turbo”.

I have called the diagnostics electrician who is going to look at the car next week but he has advised if it is the turbo it isn’t a cheap job.

Anyone else had the same problem as I am concerned if I go paying out for this turbo and it doesn’t resolve the problem what would be next?

Thank you

It looks suspiciously like the dreaded failing battery problem.
However, I’m extremely non-technical.
Someone with more knowledge will be along soon.
Good Luck

Critical to engines is exhaust gas monitoring and control. A lot of problems reported here with diesel engines.

If the red EML is showing when the car is driven the fault is related to possible engine damage. Stop driving.

The orange EML light is "check engine" fairly soon.

Traction control (stability) will cease when the Engine Control Unit (ECU) registers a problem detected by engine control sensors. Thats fuelling and exhaust out of specifications usually. Meaning the engine isn't running correctly and likely creating excessive emissions.

You will need an accurate diagnosis using the cars error codes (DTCs). Take a note of them at the garage diagnostics.

Its difficult to determine a Turbo problem here but it is a major component for fuelling the engine correctly. And expensive.
