Hi Guys
I have both LH indicators flashing fast on my 2008 qashqai J10. I have replaced both bulbs but it still occurs. Am I right in assuming it is now down to the flasher unit? I have looked everywhere on youtube etc. to find info on where the LH flasher unit is on my car but cant find any info, hence my visit here to you knowledgeable people. Any info to help me sort this will be well appreciated. BTW I used Osram Diadem chrome PY21W lamps to replace the left hand bulbs

Regards

Steve

There is no separate flasher unit...its part of the Body Control Module (BCM). The fault condition is as follows, which likely points at wiring/contact/bulb problems?

HIGH FLASHER OPERATION (FAIL-SAFE)
• BCM detects the turn signal lamp circuit status from the terminal voltage.
BCM increases the turn signal lamp blinking speed if the bulb or harness open is detected with the turn signal lamp operating.
NOTE:
The blinking speed is normal while operating the hazard warning lamp.

Thanks calnorth for the quick reply.
At least it answers my flasher question LOL. I will have to look at the connectors/wiring. Is this increased blinking speed specific to the indicator bulbs or can any bulb issue cause this.

I had rear flasher issues on my 2009 but a good clean of the bulb connections both sides solved it.

You say you've replaced both bulbs - but what about the third one?

Flashing speed is usually affected by a change in resistance such as when a bulb fails or a socket becomes corroded or a poor earth.
Does this model have side repeaters or mirror indicators that may have failed ?
I have seen people fitting twin filament stop and tail bulbs by mistake instead of a single filament bulb.
It often makes me wonder how they get them to fit sometimes as they can be offset, not saying this is the case of course but i have seen it.
Have you always owned the car ?, if not has a modification been done, led bulb versions been fitted ? just thinking outside the box now.

AFAIK...it is specific. No other lighting system flash as an error warming

OK guys thanks for all of your feedback. I have all sorts of wrong lights coming on when I put hazzard lights on and LH indicator on. I think I have to put the original bulbs back in and start again. (luckily I kept those). You are also right I have a LH side indicator lamp. So I need to start again and see what my original fault is. At the moment when I have hazzard on the front indicator flashes ok and evenly but at the back there is a brake light flashing along with the right hazzard light and the tailgate brake light??? Too cold to do anything today so will look again at it tomorrow and feed back. Again thanks.

To me this is looking more like a wrong bulb being fitted or a dodgy earth.
If you have brake lights coming on the same time as indicator lights, just check you don't have a twin filament bulb or vice versa in the wrong slot. Check your stop and tail bulbs aswel, if you have a wrong bulb it can short terminals out and divert the power to strange places causing weird symptoms. You may have noticed over the years cars or trailers braking in front and making the brake light and indicator coming on the same time.
Another thought, do you have a tow bar fitted that could have an issue with it's wiring ?
