@Pandjh.
Indeed, normally.
However you do have the J12 15W Wireless charger that I hope (maybe ilkka can answer this) will be sufficient and then we can simply put the smartphone in the (15W wireless chaging) tray under the J12 QQ dashboard !?
It is a sure omission in the J12 QQ that this tray has no provision for either a USB-A, nor USB-C plug connection in front (only for an ancient 12V lighter plus ... crazy in 2021) !

Whilst I don't disagree with what you're suggesting, I'd have thought anyone running wireless navigation would be wireless charging simultaneously.

@QaiFan

There should be two USB ports in the front (under the armrest - will that be too far away for the wireless Android Auto unit?) and two in the rear of the new Qashqai (Type ‘C’ and ‘A’).

Also, Nissan have issued guidance in the owner’s manual not to use wireless Apple CarPlay simultaneously with the Qi wireless charger for long periods as it may impact efficient charging: :geek:

Sandgrounder I have read that is exactly the case ... using both QI wireless as well as Apple Carplay or AA is not recommended because of excessive heat to the smartphone battery as well.
So indeed for long periods of time (dunno how long) that is most probably not possible and surely not recommendable.
I bought the AAWireless dongle to use it for smaller trips and plan to plug in the smartphone for long journeys.
But what I also meant was that most cars (unfortuntately not the J12 QQ) have USB ports near the Wireless Charger pad whereas the J12 QQ only has a 12V sigarette lighter port near that pad ... a real shame.
Why do we always have to put our smartphones under the armrest if we plan to use Android Auto (Apple Carplay Wireless! not being a real problem) ?
It seems to me that (continental) Europe (where most people use Android instead of Apple Carplay in the US and UK) does not count that much !???
That is why I bought me this ... AAWireless dongle.

My oneplus 7 pro doesn't have wireless charging, so I bought a pluggable QI charger pad thing that lives inside the case of my phone. It's only rated for 2amps or 10W, so it doesn't use the full power of the charge pad of QQ. The creator of AAWireless has said that android auto uses about 10% battery per hour when used wirelessly.

As for the armrest, there are grooves where you can put the cable through, so you don't have to place your phone inside the armrest. I have my AAWireless unit inside the armrest and it works just fine from there. Phone is either in my pocket or on the charging pad.

Thank you so much ilkka for your clear and informative explanation regarding the use of the AAWireless dongle and features!
I'm looking forward to be able to use it!

Got mine today. Works flawlessly on my 2020 J11b with a Samsung S20. Just a few seconds to boot up and connect. Although I've not gained anything in terms of functionality, I do feel like I've gained some more convenience. Worth the six month wait for me.

But then with wireless charging you would have thought the problem was solved.... Doesn't seem so. I guess for long journeys there's no problem plugging in.
