BSW Need help
I am having problems with my dealer. My near side BSW has stopped working. When I overtake a car the BSW does not register anymore. The dealer is trying to say that the BSW only works when a car is coming towards you, not away from you as it would when you overtake it. The manual does not mention anything about a car coming towards the back of you or going away from you.
I maybe having a slow day today... but BSW?
Edit: Aah yes its a slow brain moment! Blind Spot Warning! On mine, if I overtake it registers that there is another car next time me.... but also works if somebody creeps up behind me on the motorway.... It also works and tells me that its raining as well!* *Sarcasm... it does indeed tell me its raining by providing me with a false positive!

I think that BSW is supposed to tell you when a car is creeping up from behind,NOT when you are overtaking another vehicle. I think you are meant to see a vehicle you are overtaking by yourself.

Alerts the driver to the presence of vehicles in blind
spots diagonally behind the carHowever much a driver pays attention, there may be times when it is difficult
to be aware of other vehicles traveling in what is commonly referred to as a
driver's "blind spot". This system assists drivers in driving safely by
detecting and warning them of the presence of other vehicles in the blind spot
area.
Technology Functionality
The system recognizes when another vehicle is traveling diagonally behind the
driver's car and signals the presence of the vehicle using indicators in the
vehicle. These indicators are often found on either the side view mirror or the
A-pillar (the part of the car body separating the door window and the
windscreen). The driver is alerted to the presence of the other vehicle by the
flashing indicator and an audible signal.

Technology ConfigurationThe system can use either a rear-view camera or rear/side facing radars. Both
systems can detect the presence of vehicles diagonally behind, a location that
frequently can be a blind spot for drivers.
NOTE : The Blind Spot Warning System
is not a substitute for proper lane change procedures. The system will not
prevent contact with other vehicles or accidents. It may not detect every
vehicle or object around you. Drivers should always drive safely and never rely
wholly on the system.

My near side warning comes on as I pass anything. Very usefull as I hve worked out it goes out when I am far enough in front to pull back in
Tekna 1.6 CVT Nightshade
Has anyone noticed if followed by a J11 QQ from time to time the offside overtaking indicator on your mirror also flashes amber, this could be the distance radar sending out a signal being picked up by the BSW giving a false reading. I was followed by an Audi a few days ago and a similar thing happened. And yes Kentishman my near side light also comes on as I pass other cars, it also comes in if I get to close to near side obsticles.

I was sat at traffic lights today that had the sensor / detector mounted on them directly facing me. For some reason this would bring up my front parking radar showing completely red. When I stopped in other traffic - roundabouts or give ways etc. nothing happened at all.Anyone seen anything like this before ??
