AirCon not working, dealer insists on regassing?

I've got a 2014 1.6TDi and noticed the aircon wasn't cooling the air a few weeks back. It's only done 18000 miles, but was due its 24 month service. I always have it enabled and set to around 18/19 degrees.

Dealer says regassing costs £200+ and it's the it's the only way to find a leak. If it leaks, it's under warranty. If it doesn't leak...well, I think I'm being ripped off for regassing.

Reading a few other posts, it sounds like others are finding their aircon fading - is this to be expected, or is a fault more likely?

You should really move this post to the existing one to prevent doubling up, cheers.

A word of warning, just taken my car in for air con repair. Was told that a stone had gone through condenser and would need replacing £600. Asked for old condenser to be kept so I could get it repaired and then sell on to recoupe some money. Had condenser checked, no fault found! I'm now trying to get my money back from dealer.

Have just had my 2014 1.5 dci, which has done 14K, repaired for the second time in 6 months due to de-gassing. Main dealer said on first occasion that it was 'a faulty seal' on the condenser, this last time it was a 'faulty seam' and the unit was replaced under warranty. On both times I've had the 'stone chip, you pay' statement and I said that if the a/c is designed so that a stone chip can cause it to leak, its a bad design fault! On both visits I have been less than impressed by the dealers attitude. It seems that the default position they take is 'it's your fault unless we can be convinced otherwise'!

I've had the same attitude with them, but I was stupid enough to pay! Had the old condenser checked and is 100% leak free. I'm now trying to get this resolved but I'm dealing with a service manager who doesn't want to talk me me but at me. Calling me under handed and accused of going behind his back and complaining. Its just cost me £600 and the part they have replaced gas been pressure checked by an air con specialist and found to be in good working order be them. What does he think I should do?

Not knowing all the facts, however, if the dealer incorrectly states that the condenser has been damaged, when it hasn't, at 'best' this is veering to incompetence and at worst potentially dishonest trading (although I'm no lawyer). Either way, I think raise it with appropriate authorities, starting with Dealer Principal/Nissan Customer Services and moving through Trading Standards, Small Claims to the Police, as required.

Got a 1.5 dci coming up too 2 years old. My air con stopped working a few weeks ago. Booked in next tuesday for its second service so gonna see if they try an fob me off with the stone chip story!!! Sounds like theres a common fault if there's a few off us with the same problem. Also got the cracked paint on the roof rail ends, squeaky clutch pedal and a digital radio that likes too wind me up!!!

I'm fearing the worst now. My wife's QQ has had air con problems. She had it re-gassed by dealer. It didn't fix the problem so she's had to book it in for some time July for further testing. Whilst I was sympathetic, my QQs air con had been behaving that is, until today. Coming home this evening from work, not only did the AC smell bed from time to time, but it also wasn't cooling like it used too. Here I go, down the rabbit hole...

Cripes, mine has gone in today because the Air Con isn't working. Given then current weather we are having it's been like driving a mobile greenhouse (even with the roof blind closed!).

I think the mechanicals of the AC is fine as I had hear it preparing itself, so suspect it's something else. Major service was in March this year where the job sheet (they left it in the car) was ticked to say all was fine.
