Maybe try a different fuse?

I plugged the dashcam into the glove box socket on my Qashqai and it was fine. On my Ignis I've hardwired into the accessory socket fuse and its fine too.

I fitted my dashcam yesterday and found your guide to be invaluable. Many thanks for taking the trouble.

Hi All,
This is a really useful thread.

I'm thinking about installing a dual camera system like the Aukey Dual and wondered if anyone has guidance on routing a cable from the front camera to the rear window. On the face of it it doesn't look straightforward .

Any advice welcome.

Regards
Phil

Tuck it in behind the rubbers. They seem to give you plenty of cable to do it.I have had no problem doing it.

I've just installed part of the above...cable from camera to fuse box. Very, very easy indeed. The top of windscreen channel is easy to push a cable up and into. The rubber down the side needs a slight bit of pull/pushing. All settles back neatly. Took about 15 mins...cable routing only.

Where the cable meets the top of the dash there appears to be a sizeable opening to access the fuse box area. Just need to pull the side plastic off. Almost seems to be have been designed for this job?

I'm using a Mobius 1080p (run at 720p) RC camera which uses a simple USB mini B cable. It also needs a 12v to 5v regulator. I used this lot in a Focus before. The config software is good and I think still supported....due to the RC copter etc users.

I'll piggy back the fuses as soon as I unhook the glove box...ah plastics...yuk!

Anyone got any tips/advice on how to remove those micro fuses, they are very hard to grip and pull out, bet they break easy too.

Plugged mine, both front and rear cameras, into 12V sockets. So easy and wires hidden too. Also easy to remove when required.

You can buy tools to pull the fuses out and I've seen them on amazon that come with the piggy back wires and not that expensive

Thank you SJP. I have not installed my dash cam yet and have found your instructions quite helpfull.
But this photo regarding reruteing wire has me puzzled. I would just like to know where exactly the part of the car that photo refers to. Would it be possibel to do another pic. I took a pic of my side trim' is it above that. Many thanks.

Welcome to this forum.

Once the picture is rotated you can see it's the left end of the fascia with the end cover popped off.
