Auto Lights Query

Starting a new thread as cannot find anything on search facility about this.

My 2016 1.5dci n-connecta has auto lights. The stalk setting is left on auto and past few days nothing unusual noticed.
This morning driving along in daylight, lights are off, then I notice the full beam light come on itself for no reason.
I switched them off using the stalk control for a few minutes, then went back to auto - they still came on.
(Windscreen was clear, and I had not been through any areas where it was in shade or under bridges).

is this usual with auto-lights to come on/off for no obvious reason?

This certainly looks like a defect in the auto-lights feature on your car. In my experience over 2 years, this feature has worked impeccably & I notice that it uses the combination of outiside light intensity , time & time zone.

It comes on when entering a tunnel or in a parking lot and goes off immediately when i am out of the covered area. It also comes on after 20:00H even if there is enough ambient light outside.

As for high beams, they are quite precise, coming on only if the road ahead is totally dark & there are no on coming cars or not following a another car.

Mine came on this morning on a bright M56 but it was 06:45, so maybe the time thing overrode the ambient light

where is the timing for this? As mine came on around 630am but went off after about 5mins

You can adjust timing in settings from menu on small screen above steering wheel the settings are earlier/normal/later or similar wording.

My setting is on "normal". Cant find where in the handbook this is described.

I think someones having a laugh..........................I thought the settings were more to do with the ambient light level and the switching on/off of the lights in relation to it.

That's correct switchback, its nothing to do with the actual time.

me too! Anyway all worked fine today.
