Latest US firmware from dealership is D407 which was released sometime around September 2015. Looks to be same hardware version 031 I saw in screenshots here, but not sure if that means I can update.

Nissan are well aware that there is a serious malfunction with the Connect unit. They are "working on fixing the issues" according to Nissan Aylesbury, but have no date for issuing upgraded software/firmware -mine started malfunctioning about a month ago.
Problems reported by many owners include satnav rebooting and losing destination settings, radio randomly cutting out and no DAB tuning. The problem seems to be exacerbated if anything is plugged into the USB port and/or if a phone is paired using Bluetooth.
Apparently "many thousands" of vehicles are affected but there seems to be no sense of urgency by Nissan to get the issues sorted! Amazing given the scale of the problem that the motoring press have not yet reported on it!

Took the plunge and updated. Tested nav, audio, nissanconnect apps - everything seems to work just the same as D407. I don't subscrube to SXM but the trial channel works fine too. I can't really tell any difference in performance, but I didn't really expect any. I'm hoping the random audio drops I was having with my OnePlus 6 over Bluetooth might be better on the newer software, but only time will tell. While updating I did notice it correctly identified my the hardware's region as "NAR" which was a relief.

The actual update process took about 45 minutes. It stayed at 1/100 for almost 7 minutes, but I walked away and came back and it was done. It performed two "data carrier" updates after the reboot. I think one was the Gracenote database based on the version number presented, and the other was for navigation. I have the 2017 map SD card for North America (the one that can brick units that are not running at least version D407 in the US).

I guess, it isn’t that important for them as majority those cars are out of warranty already.

Ordered my memory stick, downloaded the file and will be attempting the update this week from D302 to D554 on my 2014 Qashqai. Doing the typical audio dropping for about 30 secs and seems to be getting worse. It did this exact same thing immediately on purchasing the car from new in Jan 2014. Nissan were hard enough to deal with then and the car was a week old! The dealers were telling me they knew there was a problem but they didn't have an update so couldn't do anything and my best bet was to contact Nissan themselves. After around 4 weeks they called me in to install an update and it fixed everything. For just over 4 years. And around 2 months ago, its started again. Gradually at first and now every couple of minutes it seems. No point going back to a dealer as the car is out of warranty and others on here give me a good idea of what they'll be like, blaming hardware, probably my mobile phone Bluetooth (which they tried blaming first time round) and trying to charge silly money to tell me what version software I'm on and that its up to date.

So I feel I have no choice but to give this a whirl. I'll, never ever buy a Nissan again. I'm astounded by their after service, or lack of it.

On mine J11 2014 I make the software update D544 and everything works ok but two days ago when I listen music from USB stick the unit restart and come back and do again in 2-3 minutes.

1. I reset to factory setting from unit menu.
2. I remove usb stick
3. I hold turn off button for 3 second to force shutdown/restart unit
4. I reformat in fat32 usb stick (untick the quick formatt) and put my music again on the stick
5. Make unit setting (gps, audio etc) and connect again my bluetooth phone with the unit
6. repet again step 3.

And now seems to be ok and no restart, but I think that the all unit have a bug.

The 2018 unit do the same, freezing and restart.

A lot of problem with the front senzor and so on. Now, Nissan and other brand too they only sell a car and don't give a penny to customer satisfaction.

Still going to update to D554 this week, but until the Muppets at Nissan get off their by behinds and actually release a fix for this issue this kind of worked this morning for me.

I basically turned the DAB radio off and put it into FM mode and also turned off RDS Reg and Traffic Announcements in the radio setup section. I then connected my Google Pixel 2XL to the device by Bluetooth as usual and didn't have a single dropout in my 40 min trip to work and 30 min trip home, which hasn't happened in weeks.

It doesn't bother me that the DAB doesn't work to be honest as long as my phone Bluetooth doesn't dropout as that's what I use in the car at all times, and for the tiny amount I listen to the radio I will just stream using a radio app on the phone. Doesn't bother me as I have 50gb of data a month and stream everything else anyway (Spotify, Soundcloud, Podcasts etc)

Still disgusted with Nissan that we, the consumers have to try this hard to make their shitty products work properly.

Try other Navi SD card.
Thanks for the advice. The old Navi-SD-card was the reason of all non-functioning of my NC.
