Hi all, I am looking at changing my low beam to LED bulbs. I have read on here that the night eyes seem to be a good starting point but that there are newer similar improved versions available. I’m after something that will be just a straight swap with no modifications etc. Hopefully in the 5000k range although I presume most are around the 6000k. Thanks in advance,Andy.

Just remember to swap them back for any MOT, they will be technically illegal. Though u'd have to be very unlucky to get caught.

Thanks pandjh, so does that mean that any replacement led bulb I fit will be illegal. Is there any other cheap options to swapping the bulbs over. I just want to loose that halogen yellow. Have tried other bulbs on my other car that claim to be cool white but not happy with the results to be honest.

It's my understanding that no LED bulb can be used unless the surrounding casing was designed to handle the very different light dispersal pattern that LED bulbs emit. Ie too much scatter. All you can do is go for a white as possible halogen that is marked as being Road Legal. You will see some for sale flagged as for off road use only.

[Edit] Re other thread, perhaps modified H9s at 65w are the way to go. Imagine doing that with MTECs and getting 130w output!

Ok thanks, will have a look around. So you wouldn’t suggest the night eyes, maybe they would dazzle other drivers.

Exactly, the light emitted by them would scatter much more than a halogen. You also have to keep to 65W or less to stay legal too. Mtec do some impressive looking H11s but are 100W.

@andymanone What have you decided? I am having a similar dilemma so any feedback would be appreciated.

Hi, I have fitted Nighteye LED bulbs and have no issues with them, a straight forward replacement, no adjustment required on headlight settings. I have projector lens and would recommend LED bulbs as an upgrade. As stated, they will need swapped back for MOT when the time comes. I have also fitted them in the main beam. There seems more scatter in the light, but what a difference they make...

And what a difference it will make to the oncoming traffic, im sure it will be appreciated by no one. Please do mention your headlights to your insurance company & the police to the fact you will be dazzling oncoming traffic, the insurance will love to increase your premium.

Deawar, what makes you so sure that Nighteye LED bulbs in halogen light-frame would harm oncoming traffic? Is there a device that could measure it?
