Climate Control Hum

I just noticed in the last day or two that when I switch on the engine there is a low hum that wasn't there before. After checking the exhaust and generally looking around the engine, I happened to turn off the climate control and it stopped. I turned it back on and it returned and the higher I turned up the fan, the louder the hum! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have about 800 miles left before the warranty runs out but not sure if this would be covered. Thanks.

Is the aircon getting cold? I guess there is a chance the pump may be running dry.

Cheers Dux. I'll get that checked out, although the aircon is still very cold when on.

It's also possibly just the fan in the cabin which blows air in, the bearings do get noisy over time. In fact you said in your first post that the higher you turn up the fan, the louder the hum, which points at that.
To prove this, turn off the airconditioning with the AC button but leave the rest of the climate control on. If the hum is still there and changes when you alter your fan speed, then it's 100% the internal cabin fan. Which is good news I suppose as it's just a fan, probably nothing expensive like your A/C. Not sure how easy it would be to get at to lubricate the fan though.

Yes chrisw99, It's still there when I turn off the a/c. I think I'll get it checked under warranty.

The other check I forgot to say is turn off your engine as well as the AC, just start the ignition, as the internal climate fans run when the engine isn't. Then you have no other noises at all to get in the way.gerryhatrick wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2017 6:30 pm Yes chrisw99, It's still there when I turn off the a/c.
