Hi have just purchased a QQ 2016 reg,
I have the error with the sensor error popping up now and then saying sensor is obstructed,
Reading this it looks like a common fault from Nissan,
I have been to the dealer and they want £98 just to look, have any of you had experience with it being fixed and if so what was the cost?
I am worried I am about to get a big bill.
Thanks
Emergency braking system fault

Heads up, just had my 1st post-recall false activation. Interestingly, in the same place as a prior one - an underground car park, crawling along looking for a space.

Exactly like mine. Every time I go through the same section of carpark it warns or applies brakes. I cannot see anything in the area that would cause it.... very strange!

Nissan have/had radar problems below. But the false/useless alarms arise from both the sensors and the electronics/software IMO. I doubt they can get these systems to behave correctly on all events. Decisions, decisions, decisions which no doubt kicks them off toward Artificial Intelligence....whatever that might be?

Thanks Calnorth. Hey Phatboy, any hills or ramps etc involved in your false activations? My car park one involves going up quite a steep entry ramp and then flattening out at which point the brakes come on.

Interesting... most of mine happened on hills or right after a sharp incline.
I did wonder if was actually detecting the roof of the car park for mine.

That's a good point, this car park also has a low ceiling height. I'll be parking there tomorrow (in a different car) so I'll see if I can spot anything on the ceiling in that area.

I think a prescribed area is "viewed" and conditioned in terms of doppler shift and object proximity. Whats moving in relation to the car and whats near enough to physically contact...all within prescribed parameters. The car with sensors is moving also. Parameters are fixed/acquired within the software (constants) which establish baselines to calculate difference. Differences give rise to actions such as alarm/avoidance tactics.
I'm trying to imagine the field of view response as a running series of digital snapshots that are compared on the fly. Quality decisions are made and filtering them as regards relevance must be somewhat tricky? I've just talked myself out of having that stuff.

Lol, when u put it like that!
However there are many positives too, just last night a car in front of me hit the brakes hard for no reason I could identify, dead straight road too. It happened at the precise time I was looking at the sat nav so I welcomed the alerts it gave and an issue was avoided.
