Martin, it looks like you have pinned the exact position down where the system goes off. Would it be worth having a nose๐Ÿ‘ƒ around the area to see if there is for example an electronic device near the roadside. I am no Boffin but it might be worth a check - Dave :)

This weekend I read an article and some alert had been put out in the US about the AEB going off randomly on 17/18 models. I had it go off on me again at weekend nothing near me at all.

Long time lurker but new poster here.

We recently took delivery of our second Qashqai. Itโ€™s a 2018 N-Connecta 1.2 petrol. Itโ€™s been fine so far except for this morning when my wife was driving to the supermarket. She turned onto an empty road and the emergency braking unit kicked in. There were no vehicles in front of her but there was a van behind her which just managed to stop in time.

Has anyone else had this happen? She was only about 100 yards away from the main Nissan dealer so sheโ€™s driven it straight there but it really shook her up.
I have had it a couple times, suddenly the emergency brake system goes on without any whatsoever reason. Saw in the papers that Nissan Rouqe (the american model of Qashqai) owners in the USA are starting a civil suit against Nissan because of the same problem.

Mine went off a few months ago. Wet road, bright sunlight and two people on pavement dead ahead on a right hand bend. Cars behind must have thought I was bonkers braking for no reason. Same road a few weeks ago but no rain or people and no warning. I have the recording of the incident from my front dashcam.

We too have had this activate twice now in the first 2 weeks of ownership, but no real pattern as such.

My friend who introduced me to QQ, 3 years ago, had this happen to him in his 2018 QQ and it really shook him and his wife up. I am due to change my car later this year and have decided that the Emergency braking issue is such a serious problem that I am not going to consider another QQ unless the Emergency braking issue has been formaly sorted out. What would happen if the brakes applied themselves, without any reason, on a busy motorway people drive far too close to be able to stop.

I hope they sort the problem out I like my QQ

Might be useful for everyone to have more understanding from those who have experienced the problem about exactly how the car behaved and the timeframe.

For instance, did anyone experience a situation where warning light and or buzzer didn't go off before emergency braking started? Also, I notice in the manual the suggestion is to depress accelerator to disengage emergency braking. So, was anyone coasting with foot off accelerator when issue happened? Did anyone depress accelerator when unwanted braking started and did that disengage the automatic braking? Was anyone using cruise control when the issue occurred? Etc.

For all of us, understanding how to manage this potential issue in advance could be life saving. Thanks.

Mine activated instantaneously, no warnings beforehand. Driving up a hill, foot on the accelerator. ABS, noise and lights, all happened at the same time. It lasted just a second or 2 at most as I believe I kept my foot down on the gas and drove through it.

A lesser occurrence was quite similar, foot kept on the gas, drove through it again. No ABS this time, just noise and lights.

Cruise control was not in use at either time, no genuine reason for activation either, ie nothing in front of me that I was about to hit. I think the 1st was due to a bollard on a traffic island and the 2nd due to a pole holding a set of traffic lights.

We had the AEB come on whilst accelerating away from traffic lights and the three cars in front stopped quickly due to a guy seeing a parking place, no signals just braked. This has happened twice with similiar reasons and since no more. Perhaps my driving is better and I am allowing a gap between cars and not up somebodies behind ๐Ÿ˜‚ - Dave ๐Ÿ˜‰

There were no vehicles in front of me just two walkers on the pavement ahead on a right hand bend who must have caused the activation. Scary if the vehicles behind had not been alert because they would have thought there was no reason for me to brake at that point going into the bend. I have it on webcam recording and have watched it a dozen times to figure it out and it has to be the two people dead ahead at the point of going round the bend.
