Hi,

Really sorry if this has been covered previously. I've searched but not found anything to assist, but I'm struggling with the phone controls within the steering wheel. The buttons just don't seem to do anything when phones are connected via Bluetooth and I can't dial out without faffing about with the centre console.

Surely I'm missing something. Has anyone had this issue before that could offer advice please?

Just for reference the cars an 18 plate tekna+. I did wonder if these buttons only rely on Android auto and apple carplay or even the type of phones connected?.

Thanks in advance!

You should be able to answer and end calls. Making them may be more of an issue though.

Thank you both and thanks for the link to the previous thread. I honestly can't believe the phone controls in this car. It's just ridiculous and the customer service/ support around this issue is non-existant.

I doubt this will be supported in future by the look of it. So disappointing!

This is going to sound pretty rude but I have to say that this is something that you might have gone through with your salesperson - mine gave me a demo on the dealer's car park on the day I picked up the car

So did mine MikeGC, he even connected my phone for me, something i could have done myself really. But the phone call controls were only mentioned in passing at the time, along the lines of "the phone controls are here on the steering wheel!" and nothing more. Like most customers, and it seems like Bubbakin and a great many others, I took the sales literature for granted and made an assumption that all would be explained in the car's manual.

Since this seems to be a J11B problem, I'd guess that yours work ok in the original J11?

But then there is a saying about assuming things, as there are many about trusting people. I this case trusting the sales brochure.

Like many I probably took the brief overview from a Nissan dealer and assumed everything related to the phone would be covered in the drivers manual. I mean seriously, who'd have thought the vehicle wouldn't support outbound calling via the steering controls, rather than messing around with the centre console. I've since spoken to Nissan. Completely useless at investigating and discussing this issue. To summarise, the power to the steering wheel switch was removed by Nissan as a 'design' decision. There may be plans to re-introduce the outbound calling via the steering controls but don't count on it.

Thanks Dave, this is really interesting and good news for anyone looking to invest in a newer model. Do you think there's will be options for those who already own a QQ. I'm not sure whether the options could be upgraded for example? Sorry if I've missed something here.

Bubbakin, there was a similiar question today with regard to this problem but there are so many unknowns regarding wiring, plugs, sockets programming, Head Unit and you will most probably need Electronic Layouts etc etc... try as suggested asking your Dealer or NCS but you are most likely going to run into a brick wall. Just as an example we had a new Connect System installed last year and it cost €2500 - Dave :)
