RVW, I do not want to re-invent the wheel but we tried tins some worked some not, we tried the “Ally” Foil worked but inconvenient, so eventually went the “Themis Security” Way with a wallet, neat and convenient and it works.
Perhaps you have not seen these, perhaps you have but it might be worth a read, if you have seen them Sorry ! - Dave

There is only one shouldn’t in my postRVW wrote: ↑Wed Jan 16, 2019 11:26 amPJB729 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 16, 2019 10:20 amYou shouldn't need to, the tin should be sufficient, the key fob is low power and the RF it emits is UHF, I put my key in a metal coffee tin, with a lid, and could not detect any RF emissions, I could detect the UHF signal from our water meter, they use the signal to read the water meter. Both the key fob and water meter use an RF signal in the 433 MHz range.RVW wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 12:50 pm How about lining a tin with this stuff?

Hear what you say but there are too many “ shouldnts “ in your reply. Others have said they have tried a tin and it was not successful. Therefore my suggestion to use the lead foil. Surely that would guarantee no signal getting out of the box?
I have tried a tin box and it was not successful.
I have the equipment to test for RF emission from a key fob in tin can with a well fitting lid, my advice was based on my tests and experience
For the lead to be fully effective the joints would need to be soldered, RF finds the gaps.

Should I install a Tracker ? I thought this was a interesting article regarding “Trackers” and as this post is more up to date than the original old “Trackers” post I decided to stick it here - Dave

Whoops now even the popular cars are being mentioned including the QQ - Dave
“Hundreds of popular cars - including four of the five best-selling models in the UK - are susceptible to "keyless theft", new research claims”. Consumer group Which? found the Ford Fiesta, Volkswagen Golf, Nissan Qashqai and Ford Focus were all at risk.

Guys, have you all considered your spare key is also transmitting? I have popped mine open to stop it transmitting, this will also save the battery. Will take a tiny moment to clip it back together if it's needed. Win-Win. May have to move the key near the start button if it needs synchronising before starting the car, who knows!
