Hi,

I have bought a j10b 1.5dci and have had to call out the RAC to do a forced Regen twice now due to warning lights. Obviously not the car for us so will look to swap out in the future, But in the meantime I’d like to buy an obd tool that will do a forced Regen (while parked - like the RAC man does with his tablet) so that I can do it myself if i need to.

Does anyone have any recommendations of tools that will allow me to run a Regen cycle?

Thanks,
Jon.

I have heard that running the car at 2500rpm for 20 minutes (down the motorway, etc.) does a good job of clearing the dpf

We don’t seem to be getting a run in often enough, so would like to be able to a) see a display of when we are needing a Regen (at the moment the Nissan just goes straight to a red MIL with no warnings or display). And b) be able to do a forced regeneration so I don’t have to call the RAC.

I have read that the torque pro app for Android gives a good dpf display, but I have iOS not android. So any good recommendations would be welcome.

Whilst in current state your QQ would benefit from REDEX for diesels, currently on offer in ALDI.
If problem persists, I suggest you google for your local "TERRACLEAN" garage :)

Sounds like you do a lot of short trips. Can be a problem with diesels. Italian tune up works to a certain degree. 70mph in 4th gear for a good long stretch will help clean it out, but will only be a short term solution.

None of the cheap OBD2 scanner will do a Force Regen of the dpf. You have to know that after every forced Regen you have to change the oil and oil filter.

What does the redex do to help the dpf?

Yes, a lot of short trips with some long journeys mixed in (but obviously not at the right time!). I wish I had read up on dpfs before buying, but you live and learn. Will swap to something else when I can!

I can bomb it down the motorway when needed, but I have no way of knowing when it’s needed. It just goes straight to a red MIL? I’m hoping an obd will at least tell me what the percentages the filter is at i.e. when I need to take it out for a long run.

Why do you have to change the oil? What can a forced Regen do to it?
