I think I may have to change my original Nissan Radio on my J10 and have been looking at Android based replacements such as this one. https://audiotechdirect.com/pba-ni7836u ... issan-din/

If anyone has one installed or similar could you just answer a question or two about power on/off, please?

I have an Nexus 7 tablet and various android based smartphones and from a complete power off condition take many, many seconds to start up and be usable.

Do these Android radios take a long(ish) time to come ready after turning the ignition on?
Alternately when the ignition is turned off do they just go into standby mode which may present a drain on the battery?

Any help would be much appreciated and have a Happy New Year.

I Have fitted this Dasaita unit to a J11 but I sure it’s avalible for the J10. Yes they take 20 seconds or so to boot up but by the time I’ve backed out of the garrage it’s up and running. I’ve set mine to sleep for 30 minutes before shutting down so it’s an instant boot on short stops.

By the way, it’s been working fine now for 4 months without a problem and on my second map update. Updates via Nissan cost £110 per year, my cost £11 for life for Sygic. Let me know if you want more information.

Thanks for the reply. That's pretty much what I was expecting in terms of startup time, which as you say is not such a big deal usually.

I've been trying Sygic on my tablet and can't really say that I like it very much. My usual app is HereWeGo which has a problem in that the setup screen, where you enter the start and destination is always in portrait mode , which is not much good on a car radio installation.

Thanks Again

Hi

The reason I use Sygic is that all the other offline SatNav apps Google Map, CoPilot GPS, TomTom GO, MAPS.ME and MapFactor have problems, either cost or poor interface. Sygic has its issues but IMHO it better than the rest.

Does the android headunit support steeringwheel buttons?
I can't make a phonecall from my steering wheel (QQ J11B).
The button to make a call is there, but it it has no function besides answering a call.
An Android Headunit could be a solution if all steering wheel buttons works.

Since installing the unit I have loaded FCC launcher which allows you reprogram the Stering Wheel Buttons and intiate OK Google to make calls. It’s much better than the LNC2 unit installed as standard.
