Apologies if I'm hijacking the thread here:

I've been in contact with Nissan South Africa for months now trying to get updated maps for my Tekna.
The map data on the SD card shows 2013. I've driven on roads I know for a fact have been there for many years, yet my QQ doesn't show the road.

Nissan customer care told me the local supplier of the maps haven't updated them for years, and they have no idea when that will happen.
I asked the lady if the local supplier is HERE, she said no. I would imagine that HERE would supply Nissan with maps worldwide? Or no?

It's INCREDIBLY frustrating as I purchased this car with the navigation as I intended to use it daily for work, but I still need to use my phone.

Yes, it's Dutch company "HERE". There's a member here called "Black Rojer" who does good prices for
genuine EU maps; doubt he'd have your area, but he may respond here.

They also seem to only have EU maps

If you scroll down, I see African countries.

I have the latest version of the qashqai the 1.3 with the dct box 160 bhp
it has the tomtom version of the satnav
Strange this morning after reading these note thought i would try to get the system to update via my wifi
It went away and then came up with a list of maps to update selected the uk south and the uk/NI maps
but the date stamp against them were 2017-12-1
So i was downloading the same maps that were alreading on the car

so it looks like nissan are not doing what the say new maps every year.


Good job i have my tomtom 6200 get 4 map updates a year and get speed camera updates every few days for the duration of the support from tomtom
the incar tomtom does not have any speed cameras at all

I asked Tomtom about the nissan updates was told that they had sold nissan the update software it was up to them to send out updates

so a £3000 car and out of date nissan maps

I think that 2017 date we see is just a base version reference. What i downloaded recently said Update 2 and I'm sure i saw a 2018 reference in there somewhere too.

From watching how the USB option works i am positive it only offers you the updates you have not yet got installed (based on version and or time and date stamps).

If there are updates u need it shows them to you, no listing means you're up to date for that region.

Have rung my local sevice people no idea why ??
So rung Nissan Custoner services they had no Idea as well but they made a case of it to ask the back office techs

My question as well was why when brought the car i had out of date maps
Also if Nissian say new map update once a year why did i not get new maps in Dec 2018
So my date stamp should have been 2018-12-1

now just waiting for them to contact me

Perhaps it depends on when yours was built. I've only had mine 5 weeks but it actually built in Nov 18, therefore was not 'live' in Dec 18.

Fyi, these downloadable tomtom maps are only free for 5 years, the map update tool shows the date that eligibility ends in the settings area.

Well rung nissan was reffered to Tomtom what a waste of time
so thought i would try again the mapupdate tool via the web
Download the data onto a usb stick a guide shows
still was showing the old maps so deleted all the old maps on the stick.
went backi into the map update tool found at bottom of screen below the 2017 maps
A update for europe a 16gb map dated 2018-6 so downloading the maps now not very fast.
So still out of date
So will let u all know how i get on
