This got me thinking, i honestly do not recall ever seeing the hill start icon on my 2019 QQ, its always the Auto Hold that kicks in and, to date, hasn't ever not worked or refused to work.

My drive, at home, is on a bit of a slope.
As a result I was in the habit (with older cars over the 25 years I've lived here) to park up and leave the car in reverse (nose down).
When I do this in my QQ the green hill assist light illuminates.
Doesn't have to be a significant slope, mind you, even a gentle slope can be used to "invoke" hill assist. If you stop on a shallow slope and allow the car to gentle roll backwards (traffic allowing) and then brake hard, the green icon will illuminate.

I get my new one tomorrow (2019 Tekna) and look forward to seeing what happens.

Think yourself lucky, Pandjh... because it is a right pain when you want Auto Hold to kick in and it won't.

As for them being combined, I'm not sure about that, because both work independently of each other.

I think I will find a steep hill and see if I can get EHS to kick in like it does on the driveway, though I'm sure I've been on steeper roads than my driveway and it's never kicked in.

Hey Weasel, just spent a week driving all over the place and hill start assist hasn't kicked in once, no matter what incline i encountered, auto hold held on all of them. Pulling away from auto hold is also smoother than pulling away from the full handbrake too. I can see the icon for Hill Start Assist on the dashboard but it simply never activates. The manual also describes it as 'where fitted' so perhaps its not fitted on all models?

Ey up, Pandjh...it is very strange how sometimes it works and most of the time it doesn't, EHS hasn't activated for nearly 2 weeks now, just the much easier to use AH.

You would have thought that if a N-connecta has EHS then a top of the range Tekna would have it also, but like you say, maybe it has to be specified when ordering.
