My J11b is two years old next week and has been fine, but yesterday I went to start it and after turning the key I immediately got an error fault code.
Stop start faulty or something like that, the engine wouldn’t turn over just a loud clicking noise?
Rang the RAC and two hours later they arrived, I knew my car was fitted with the FIAMM Italian battery.
I pointed this out to the service technician, he wouldn’t comment on the known fact that I was aware from the info on this forum that Nissan replaced these regularly.
He connected his readout gubbins and five minutes later fitted a new Varta battery.
Apart from resetting the local time on the clock as it had gone back one hour he didn’t have to do a thing, vehicle started first touch, no warning lights.
Apart from a two hour wait I found the RAC very efficient and courteous.
S.
Replacement battery yesterday.

Which Varta ( series number ) did he fit and how much did he charge for the battery?, or was it covered by the warranty as under 2 years is a very short lifespan for a modern day battery.

Odd really?
The story goes that the battery performance monitoring is to be reset. Not sure what the point of that is in the dirty world of battery charging. Allegedly changes the battery charge rate over time so preventing it being over charged as it moves into an OAP mode? Trouble is they are dying fairly early along the bath tub (chair) curve.

Is the failure rate down to the Stop/Start system? because 2 year batteries should not die, my Dad's 2011 Renault Twingo is on its original battery and still going strong.

Could well be batch production/quality problems. Continual Start/Stop I wouldn't say was a battery's best friend. A battery degrades from day one usage...just by how much/how fast depends on component quality and usage. And owner care. Add in short/frequent journeys which may not charge a battery adequately. It could of course be over charged and slowly cooked. A bit of a balance here governed by the battery charge sensing.
We wouldn't know anything about these causes and if RAC/Nissan are recovering such failed batteries, is the manufacturer analysing the failure? Or is the failure rate tolerable...to the manufacturer? Just buy another one!

Yes, as warranty is 3 years (transferable)....do you have the Cared4 document with the car? No matter get onto your seller with evidence of the RAC battery change.
Did RAC charge you and at what price?

Side note, latest QQs are fitted with Renault Nissan labelled VARTA batteries.
FIAMM seem to have paid the price for their quality issues.

Same problem for me yesterday. Live in Somerset, was off Saturday morning to the Lake District. Car wouldnt start. Started by jump starting from a leisure battery. Drove 400 miles to Lake District, stopping a couple of times on the way, all good, apart from the front radar warning light coming on once. Yesterday car wouldn't start. Now in a cottage in a really remote area, the post code is for a village half a mile up the road. Nearest car accessory shop over 10 miles away. Car is a 66 plate, warranty due to run out 31st October. Rang Nissan assistance who sent the RAC. It took them 3 hours to arrive. RAC man said you need a new battery, I always carry two of this type on the van as the only time I get called to a qashqai its the same problem. He replaced the battery with a Varta and the plugged his laptop into the car for 10 mins to do something [not sure what} Then relaced batteries in both my key fobs (wife always carries the spare when we're away) then off he went. Nothing to pay, but he told me they sell the batteries for £ 205.

Welcome to this forum.

Good to know you had a successful outcome. Nissan dealers report much cheaper prices for battery replacement.
