Success!! problem resolved!
The grey wire in the kit for the rear fog is meant to become the new power supply to the car fog light.
I had cut into the harness at the wrong point.
Under the black plastic boot trim (where the boot latch is) is where you need to cut in, its a yellow wire you attach the grey one too.
Doing this has it all working perfectly and even brings the trailer light on the dash board.
