Hi all,

Please be informed that it is possible to set waze/google maps in night mode in android auto. I was just as frustrated that this didn’t seem to work but I found out how to fix this on a Dutch forum and a few other websites.

You can do this by entering the developer mode of android auto.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How to enable Android Auto’s Developer settings (as found on 9to5google)
Launch the Android Auto application on your smartphone
Tap on the hamburger menu icon in the top left corner
Select the About option
Tap repeatedly on the About Android Auto portion of the heading until a pop-up states that Developer settings is enabled
To locate the Developer settings, select the multi-dot menu button in the top right corner
Tap on Developer settings
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In the developer settings you have an option Day/Night - In my case I set this to car-controled and now I can use the button in the car to switch waze/google between night or day mode. Of course this can be set to phone controled as well, I haven’t tested if this works.

Please let me know if the above steps are clear for you, if not I can post some screenshots as well.

Final step above is not working for me...

Alternatively,

Tap on the hamburger menu icon in the top left corner
Select the "Settings" option
Tap repeatedly on the "Version" portion of the heading until a pop-up states that Developer settings is enabled...

Which is great... but still doesn't change what the car displays. I tried Car Controlled and Night, it ignored both.

When set to car controlled for me it allows me to use the day/night button in the car and it changes google maps and wazes modes. I will be on a business trip for the upcoming days but this weekend I can share a short movie if wanted.

Pandjh....Can you get Waze/Google Maps to see on the connect screen using AndroidAuto as I can't

Yep, these 2 are standard options via Android Auto, if you get that then as long as you have these 2 apps on your phone they should display. My issue seems to be that when in AA I only get Day/Auto modes on the display, not Night too.

After posting a review of the app on Google Play, the developers replied confirming it was a known issue with Samsung phones and they were working on a fix.

An alleged workaround is to switch the phone itself into night mode and then connect.

Edit: it works, i set AA to be controlled by the phone and then manually set Night mode on the phone itself.

I don't have Qashqai experience but on my Suzuki I press the white dot to get back to the apps screen and then the "Suzuki" button in the app array. That takes me to the Suzuki home screen. Have you got a "Nissan" button
