OK so after hours of pouring over the wiring / system diagrams for the car, iv determined that it is only possible to install the sat nav unit in the lower end cars (replacing the base audio / radio unit) provided:

1) you purchase a brand new sat nav unit that has never been locked to a previous car.
This is because the wiring for the old radio unit does not have a CAN connection to the rest of the system, and thus the nissan dealer will not be
able to UNLOCK or CODE the navigation unit to the car.

Unlocked ones are crazily over priced...

2) you build an adaptor cable of which I give details of schematic here:

Also please ignore my earlier pin diagrams the correct ones are:

32pin connector from lower end models, and 24 pin connector from higher end models

20 pin connector is also slightly different (pin 7) between lower end and higher end models.

I leave this information incase anyone wants to take up this challenge! If anyone does feel free to get in touch id happily pass on my information.

I have a lot more notes, although I wouldnt recommend doing this unless you are like an electronic engineer or technician and understand wiring diagram.

If you go for an aftermarket unit then you can buy this adaptor and save yourself a lot of trouble... this is what im going to do.

https://connects2.com/Product/ProductItem/CTSNS011.2 for the higher end models with 24 pin connector.

If anyone can recommend a decend aftermarket satnav! Id love to hear!

Hello,

I am in Canada and my 2018 qashqai has the 32 pin harness but I am not capable of getting the pinout explanation.
Can you please send me those pages from the manual? The manual I got has the 24 pinout so not compatible.

I need the pinout to this terminal: download/file.php?mode=view&id=8276

Thank you
