Hi,

Im trying to replace the standard radio with the full satnav unit, iv got it connected and half working. However the secondard connector that goes to the head unit its a different size and has 32 pins.

Iv read that it is possible to get it to connect with an adaptor and someone was selling them on ebay, but stopped due to lack of demand.

The connector is the one on the top of this image... Anyone got a pin diagram for the 32pin connector? Or had an issue with this before?

Another issue is that with just the audio / power cable connected the radio powers on, but if I turn the ignition it switches of, and you cant power it up. Is this because of the missing connection? Or because I need nissan to code it to my car, or perhaps that the unit is faulty?

Thanks in advance.

Dan

Thanks, seems the clue is that I need to replace cable from steering wheel to the head unit, hence the wrong connector (or possibly work out how to make an adaptor)

Does anyone know where I can get the steering wheel cable? Or find a pinout / wiring diagram or the cable in my version, and the one for the new version.

Im finding parts like this on ebay, but no idea how to identify the correct wiring loom that connects steering to head unit!

I think iv found in service manual connectors for the old audio unit (as photographed in original post)

And also the connectors for the full satnav

Investigating how to make a connector.

If the numbers need to tie up then it's a "rather you than me!" response from me!

I have tables that tell you what the numbers are, so I can make an adaptor. In case anyone else is looking for information! Do not match the numbers, you could damage your car, if I succeed in making a working adaptor I will post the diagrams and information on how to build it.

Here is my current plan for the wiring adaptor im going to build. iv managed to source the connectors from China.

Blue highlights are what im going to connect together, and the orange ones I may also connect but want to do a bit more investigation first to make sure its safe.

If anyone is familiar with the CAN busses in the car, the newer 24pin connector has 2x CAN and 2x AV Can busses.

Im wondering if these are the same buses with more connections or if they are seperate busses entirely.

WARNING! If anyone is about to do this! do not plug in the navigation unit in the car with 20pin and 32 pin connector.

1 of the pins on the 20pin connector that fits in, is incompatible with the sat nav unit, both 20pin and 32 pins connectors will need an adaptor between them and the nav unit.

This seems to be the reason mine was turning off when ignition is turned.
