Hi,

Took car to dealer today and they have told me that the condensor is doamged due to stone chip.

They have quoted me £690 to fit new condensor and regas ?

Can condensors be repaired or is it a bin job.

TIA

They rapidly become Beyond Economic Repair (BER) unless you know how to weld aluminium and test it for leaks under pressure. Dealer won't do that I suspect....too difficult and prone to breakdown and return/repair/replace.

That's Nissan dealer prices, an independent air con specialist can probably do it for a fraction of that price.

If it has an extended warranty check out whether it's true that it's a "stone chip" or whether it's one of Nissan's notorious faulty condensers. Have you actually been shown the damage?

Nicenswift, now I know what a 65 Plate (2015/16) is we do not use this definition out here and your QQ is obviously out of Guarantee.
As Gloucester has suggested get a look at the supposed “Stone Chip” as there is a difference regarding the Defect Leakage from the bad batch of Condensers which is normally a Black Staining. I would recommend giving NCS a call and emailing them (you should get a Customer No.) and putting your problem to them stating your problem and the well known facts stated on the Forum, its worth a try - Dave 😏
Or give a specialist a call / different manufactured part / reconditioned / repair & install :

My aircon stopped working in July on my 2014 Tekna model at 50,000 miles. The condenser was leaking and would require a new one fitted at £526 from Nissan in Swindon.
I bought from the Carshop with an extended 3 year warranty and I am very glad to say that they have now refunded me the £526! 8-) .
Happy days plus a 12 month warranty on the work from Nissan.

If I understand/remember correctly then in the UK it is illegal to regas the vehicle and charge for that service without doing a prior test to ensure the vehicle will actually take a regas. So that should happen first and if it fails you get charged simply a nominal fee to cover labour time etc so circa £40. So if they have simply regassed and told you, after the fact you have a leak (so pointless for you long term) & didn’t do this test first then they don’t really have a leg to stand on, to then charge you the £195
