Battery problem 2017 QQ

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the forum, sorry if this was asked before.
I have a 2017 Qashqai J11b, bought it brand new a year ago.
3 weeks ago it didn't start, jump started it, called the local nissan service (I live in Hungary btw). They said that they will inspect the battery, and if it's faulty, they are replacing it under warranty. Which they did inspect it, and it came out faulty, but they didn't have the right battery in stock, so they told me to wait till it arrives. So that was like 3 weeks ago, now they're saying that basically there's not even one battery in the whole country so they had to order it from the Netherlands, and it takes some time. Now my patience is starting to wear thin, especially now that winter has basically arrived here, and the car is harder to start every day.
Sorry for the long story, my main question is, can (or should) I replace the battery without voiding my warranty? Does this car needs to be recoded or something? Or I just simply put in a new one?

Hi...you can put another make in and either EFB or AGM type. Each battery should be registered to the car by Nissan in Hungary. In UK we can use the RAC recovery service also.
If you can get a Varta or Bosch make would be good. Check battery dimensions and that the cranking Amps (CCA) is about 720 Amps.

The battery you replace with may not be charged fully by the car due to no registration. Ask Nissan to do that?

I'm surprised that Nissan Hungary doesn't have a battery for you...that is weird.

You can check charging and battery level on this Service Menu:

Hi!
Thank you for your quick answer!
So if I understand correctly, If I buy myself a new battery, I should have it replaced by them to do the registration and etc. ?

I'm also shocked that they don't have it. They actually told me that a lot of these models had the same problem. So I'm really shocked If they are aware of this situation why don't they do something is beyond me.

This video is interesting, but I have the smaller "non-navi" version. Can I still access this service menu on that somehow?

I'm not familiar with the Non Navi version, but if it has a screen for other things like radio then try it. Its useful for watching the charging voltage really.
Nissan should register that new battery...only they can in HU I suspect.

The Battery needs to be EFB or AGM type...for your N-Connecta car the AGM is not necessary. It may cost more than EFB anyway.

The problem is the production installed FIAMM (Italy) make battery. However, all batteries have a 3 yr warranty normally so Nissan will change it in the warranty period. They are changing FIAMM with Varta (Germany) equivalents. Nissan HU could have easily got that in 24 to 48 hours?

I really don't know what is taking them so long. They said that they have phoned and asked their partners across the country, but none of them had this exact type that I need. It's funny I know... They also said that recently they changed their supplier or something, last month or so, and that's the reason things are a bit out of control right now. I guess I'm pretty unlucky.

Thanks for the infos and for your time, I'm gonna try and work something out.

Its pretty costly on transportation I expect...batteries have to be safely taken care of.
