Well spotted Weasel!

Yes - it's the old unit and not Android Auto compatible!

It was supposedly launched in September 2018 but not actually introduced on new builds until around November 2018 - but there are several reports of supposedly later cars not having it - presumably owing to them having been built before and not immediately registered. I'm not sure if there's anything on the car itself giving the exact build date, though presumably Nissan could tell you.

That's that then :(
Is there any sort of voice recognition built-in to the head unit or does every phone call and sat-nav command have to be inputted using the touchscreen?

You should have voice recognition using the Connect 3 unit - try it and see. Obviously the phone needs to be Bluetooth paired.

It's possible I suppose that Nissan disabled the steering wheel button prior to making the infotainment unit swap.

Pressing the button on the right hand side of the steering wheel, either a short or long press, and with the phone connected via Bluetooth, it just opens the phone function on screen.
I'll have another read through the manual tonight but it doesn't help when it covers all vintage of head-unit.
Thanks for all your help.
Lee.

Sorry - perhaps my memory is playing up. I thought I could voice dial on my Qashqai but perhaps I couldn't. Hopefully someone else will jump in.

I'm getting conflicting info on the internet. What happens if you press the telephone button and hold it?:

1] Redial

or

2] Voice commands.

(Note it's actually the phone working the voice recognition here not the Connect 3)

Gloucester, so yes I will just jump in amongst all your posts, we had a 2014 QQ Tekna (yours 2015) so I am sure you are correct in remembering that dialing from the Steering Wheel worked with Siri, we never had a problem. Then came the New Model and Whoops the System had disappeared and if you remember or not this created I believe the biggest post ever - see attached. I think Nissan lost the Plot and my emails and conversations got nowhere with NCS - Dave 😏

This is what we had, Press LH Button / Wait for Noise / Speak to Siri with request / Dialling / RH Button finish or cancel :

By long-pressing the button on the right hand side of the steering wheel (the one with the side profile of a face with sound waves coming from the mouth which suggests voice recognition) my head-unit just opens up the phone screen. Would I have more functionality in the head-unit if I went back to pursuing the installation of the Nissan Connect app or is it a waste of time? I used to have the Vauxhall OnStar app which did nothing except locate the car, lock/unlock, sound the alarm and send destinations to the built-in sat-nav. The car itself had it's own voice recognition which was quite useless and then on top of that I of course had the Android Auto.
