Apologies if this has been asked before, I have searched the forums and looked for a 'File' section. I am trying to find out if a QQ Acenta 2014 headlights need to be adjusted for living in France. I have read many opinions on Halogen/LED/Zenon/Flat beam etc however I still haven't got a definitive answer. Stickers are not an option as I need to get the car registered in France, there is no menu option to change, although there is a hexagonal key slot on the headlights.
Anyone got any helpful information ?

Have you asked your Nissan Dealer or the AA / RAC for information ?. Try entering this subject “Headlights for France” in the “Search” Area and you should get all of and there are many Posts on this subject. These may help may not but might be worth a read - Dave 😏

Hi ChelseaFan2008,

Did you get a response from Nissan regarding this? I am in same situation although, with a 2017 Tekna, I wonder if my lights need to be changed to re-register in Spain.

I thought my car has self-levelling headlights, therefore doesn't need to have anything changed for abroad, but I could easily be mistaken.

Thoughts:
Car headlamps used to have a cut out in the lens (glass beam shaping cover) for the dipped cut off shaping. The QQ has fixed lens units with a total clear plastic cover. The lens unit is adjustable to some small extent. Also motorized versions.

However, the dipped cut off by the lens unit shapes the dipped light - high left and low right (sloped anti dazzle) for a RHD car. I don't think that configuration can be internally adjusted for LHD countries as the dipping would be high dazzle to the oncoming driver on the left. This is lens shaping which is probably integral to a sealed and handed headlamp. The earlier stick on shaped patch won't work well of course.

The motorised RHD version will have the wrong dipping shape also.

Perhaps the dipping lens unit can be swapped out..big perhaps at that! I could be wrong but can't see any useful diagrams in the service docs.

Dipped shapes from J11 Service docs. These shapes cannot be adjusted, just moved L/R and U/D as a whole and slightly. They are subject to legal vehicle requirements regionally.

Top = LHD and Lower = RHD ...different slope out angles.

That is very helpful information, thank you so much.

I´ve been to a test center today for the lights, they confirmed the beam is not "flat" as some posters have previously mentioned (on another forum for sure and maybe here too?) - They said there is no way in their current state that they would pass the ITV test (the Spanish equivalent of MOT) so the lights do need to be changed.

Eurolites are, of course, the solution for temporary visits but to pass the car onto Spanish registration the lights need to be changed to Euro specification.

Now I have the task of finding some lights. AUTODOC have some for 200 ish each, they confirmed they match my car specification but after further investigation, they are not the full LED version so they are not a match for my car - they even checked the VIN and said they match so I really don´t understand how they are compatible when they are not the full LED version. Nissan have confirmed the price at over 600€ per light plus fitting, total bill of over 1500€ (That´s really squeezing me).

If anyone would have leads on how to find some LHD aftermarket lights I would greatly appreciate it. I have the UK part number off the light itself but how can I relate this to the EU version of the part?

The quote from AUTODOC is interesting...sort of. I changed similar sealed/molded headlamp units on a Ford Focus a few years back. I got them new off eBay for £100 each. On examination they were made in Taiwan and far better than Fords own. I thought Ford had forgotten how to make electrically safe bulb sockets...poor to say the least.

Nissan prices are usually way off reasonable. AFAIK it is possible to upgrade Halogen lamps to LED and descriptive posts exist on this forum.

My experiences with VW's in Germany/Holland way back when was to immediately find a scrap yard...as in UK. LED units might be a bit rare of course.

Thanks again for your reply.

Is there a way to get the actual part number for the LHD version of my lights. I saw you have some service documents above, are these publically available? If I had the actual part number for the LHD version then I could at least match with a pair from Germany or another EU country (from breakers). There seem to be quite a few in Germany and Poland but I want to be 100% sure they are correct as there will be no right of return.

Maybe I should make a new forum topic regarding changing and sourcing the lights... This topic was about adjusting rather than sourcing and changing.

There must be quite a few in this situation, I would have thought. It does not seem easy to me to source TEKNA LED versions of the headlights, there´s a few "uk/european changeover headlight specialists" I've contacted but they don´t have the full LED either.

Regarding changing back to Halogen type, I talked to a guy about that yesterday he said the loom is different, it is doable but is it advisable on this spec car. I would rather keep the original spec, in honesty.

Cheers.
