It seems almost impossible based on the enquiries I made today. Does anyone in the UK know any car audio specialists?

I think it must be related to risks associated with this kind of upgrade. Now we desperately need to find a UK dealer who is willing to do this work at an affordable price

Is this the same as an OBD specialist? Here is the screen I am seeing. What does RED mean? Are there different colours for different severities?

red - this means that this radio, for example, is not integrated into the immobilizer system of this car. when you rewrite the keys, then all blocks in the car will receive a new code and will work correctly as one system. Sorry for my english, this is a very primitive explanation. as far as my level of language proficiency allows me))

I understood perfectly :) so here is the thing, the dealer said the keys can only be written once into the radio and cannot be overwritten. If you try and overwrite the keys, the entire car may not start

The earlier post on this subject (Code Red) is here:

The Audio Unit connects to BCM via CAN Bus and I'd say the original Audio Unit ID is coded within BCM under NATS (Keys/immob stuff) . I think I've seen in Nissan diagnostics that the original Audio Unit unique ID (config data) has to be applied to the replacement Audio Unit. Nissan Consult Tool copies off original Audio Unit ID and recodes a newer Audio Unit. Something like that.

A Nissan Franchise will have a worksheet/document on this directing Audio Unit replacement. Don't think these Audio Units come from a manufacturer pre coded to any specific car. So this work will be carried out at car production in the first instance.

I don't understand the key recoding bit. The above should avoid that.

I did this procedure on my car at a dealer in my country (It cost about 40$). All I had to do was install the radio and rewrite my two old keys. now I am enjoying the interface of the new radio, which I wish you all))

I ubderstand. Here's the thing, the dealer has said that this programming is a 1 time only thing. The replacement radio needs to be returned to its factory state before it can be written with a new id. I have no idea if he is right but he claims to have worked for nissan for over 20 years so he must know something?

It'll certainly be one time for BCM (NATS security) I suspect. But the change of Audio Unit (Connecta Head Unit) is a process of copying back the old Audi Unit data and loading it onto the new Audio unit. That pre-supposes that the new Audio Unit can operate with data from an earlier model. The Nissan Consult Tool can do this so that the car can be configured in service for many functions...not just audio/nav.
