Just noticed in your dash camera install that your fuse tap is in upside down, you're not protecting your dash camera circuit from the fuse in the fuse tap but effectively running it and whatever runs off that fuse off the one fuse.[/QUOTE]
Thanks Wheelie your comment was correct and the fuse outlet wire should face downwards to ensure both circuits are protected. Luckily I could pull it out and replace via the tiny square hole at the rear of the glove box so it was an easy job without having to remove anything. Nissan should really supply the extended fuse removal tool as made available in the USA, these are about 60/70mm in length and should enable the fuses to be removed and replaced without glove box removal. I have noticed some of these on sale from America via ebay sellers.

[1"]]Hopefully, this will raise a smile:
Due to disability, I needed a grab handle above the driver's seat in my new Tekna
CVT, so when the car went in for its £140 handle installation, I asked the dealer's
chief mechanic, who was doing the job, if it would be possible to run a cable with a 12v-5v buck
regulator for my dashcam, between the mirror cluster and the glovebox fuse
cluster. I said there was no need for any connections as I had a
piggyback fuseholder and fuses on order. (Incidentally, Wikipedia says the
new QQ's fuses are not micro, they are low profile mini.) When the car
was returned, the mechanic popped his head round the door, thumbs up and a
wink. There was no mention of the job on my bill, so I figured the
mechanic was due a paper bonus when I next saw him, as the dashcam connector
was hanging from the rearview mirror.

I looked for the cable through the glovebox "porthole" but
couldn't see it. I took off the
dashboard end cover and looked but couldn't see it. Having seen a post on the forum about
glovebox removal, I did that very thing and cream-crackered my fragile back
peering under the dash, but no wires.

After a few days recovery, I had a bright idea and took the
driver's side dashboard end cover off.
There was the cable! Maybe he
didn't know right from left. Good game,
after all, it was a freebie. OK, check
fuses on RHS. I couldn't believe
it. None were ignition switched, so I'm
chuggered! Tried to remove cable. No way.
That mechanic really has a sense of humour. I'll go elsewhere in future.

So, do I buy another cable with buck regulator hardwired in
for £15 + post? How about running
another cable across the entire car? Has
anyone done it? Can it be done? Is there space through the central cluster to
thread a wire? Help, please!

Also, I thought the passenger side windscreen behind the
rear view mirror would be a great place for the dashcam, but I've found some
sort of sensor window on the back of the rear view mirror that faces forwards
and looks through the area of screen where the dashcam was going to be mounted. Anyone know what function that sensor has? Where is a suitable place to mount a dashcam
(Mini 801).

Any help and guidance from members would be very much
appreciated.

Cheers. DaveL

Using this thread I have just fitted my dash cam but I have the 12v plug and socket under the passenger front seat so I can get at it easily.

Ok so pics of my install from way back in July, the BlackVue (650) is connected to a Power Magic Pro to provide power 24/7 The front camera was put just under the obscuration band to the left of the rear view mirror, the two cables (power and rear camera) were run nside the rear view mirror trunking, easily removed with a little jiggle (of the plastic, not your hips!)Both cables were run under the headlining at the top of the windscreen, easy enough to just push them up there out of the way. The power was taken down the A-Pillar and by removing the dash end cap connected into the fusebox via a Power Magic Pro and the rear view camera cable was run in the headlining by tucking it in on the door surround seals.By undoing a few bits of trim in the boot and drilling a small hole (fitted with a grommet) I passed the rear camera cable through. The trickiest part was working the cable with the jack up through the rubber boot and into the boot lid area, after unclipping a couple of the plastic trim clips I managed to feed the cable inside the boot lid and by drilling another small hole and fitting another grommet I managed to thread the cable and jack through it.The rear camera sits at the top of the rear window in the middle and the only exposed wiring for the whole installation can be seen in pics 1 and 5. OIpen to suggestions on how I can make this a neater install please.
