Automatic clock issue

Yesterday the clock reset itself to a random time nowhere near actual time. Was on automatic, had to reset time manually. Any ideas why this could have happened and whether it could be a symptom of anything else? Battery is fine and hadn't been disconnected. Has been working fine for over a year. Thanks.

Interesting. Time status is transmitted globally via national domestic radio (VHF), GPS systems (Navstar) and the Internet. So it shouldn't be a problem generally. It could be if there is a system wide Time tracking problem. Reference Atomic clock access. And where consumer radio boxes of various types only poll the incoming radio (with time) signal per hour. Other internal errors may occur ...only we'd expect internal radio clocks to maintain clock memory. Wouldn't we......

Although, saying that my Tower Win10 PC managed to screw itself as regards GMT+1 or GMT last month. Would not obey me so had to dive in amongst the PC software settings (weeds level) a bit...not a common place to goto.

The nuisance part of it is to reset the car ICE box and loose settings to see if the box can set itself right?
