Hi

Qashqai 2016 model 65 plate. N-TEC DCI

Today, when the temperature was 31 C outside, I had no cold air coming from my air conditioning unit on either side (passenger or driver)

Later today I check again outside temp 29 C and checked all of the settings on the air conditioning unit. Eventually, it started to cool, however, I have noticed that the air on the passenger side is colder than the driver side with and without the dual being used.

Does anyone know why the temperature on the passenger side would be cold and the drivers side just seems to be blowing cool air?
(I almost forgot, that when I set the temperature to Hi, again the passenger side seems to be hotter)

Checked fuses, and checked for leaks - nothing.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

It tends to indicate that the refrigerant system is working ok. After that its fairly complex sensing and auto controlling of temperature by air mixing. It would be difficult to diagnose from here.

Welcome to this forum.

Seems like some more experimentation is called for. For example if you set the passenger to a high temperature and the driver to a low temperature does the driver's side get cool?

Hi Gloucester

Thanks for your reply.

I have set the passage side to 29c and driver side to 16c. The drivers side is cold, however, the passenger side is pumping out cool air.

Not sure this is normal, but my car takes its time to warm up, need to wait for engine thermostat to move before I get heat. Is this normal?

Well you're never going to get heat immediately from cold. And cool air takes a while to get going, but it's quicker than heat.

Hi Gloucester

The passenger side does throw out heat while the driver side is cold. However, I have just compared my Qq to a petrol qq and the does seemed to be a difference.

Any ideas of what I could do to stop the difference between both sides??

I did read some where on internet that is could have something to do with an actuator? Cannot find the webpage with the information on,

Any thoughts?

Cheers

This looks like heating control. See if you can control the vent flow temperature on each side separately. Can you get to a default "all off" position first. If anything flows thru... it should be external air only with Fan use? You will then need a warmed up engine to compare external air to internal blown air (if any). Keep Aircon Off.

Lets know the result...are the L/R vent temps out of balance?

Not sure about qashqais but on my freelander the max differential between the two sides is 7 degrees c.

Hi Calnorth

I have turned off the a/c and used the fan only - flow is good both sides. Then used recirculation, with a/c off and the flow is alot stronger. I would also say the passenger side is slightly stronger that the drivers side.

This could explain why the difference between the two sides, but how do you fix?

Cheers
