Hi all,
Had my first scrape, and looking to touch it up. Rear passenger corner. No dents, just paint scraped off. Picture below.

So is the black the primer underneath, or is this a black plastic piece of bodywork?

Any tips on doing this? And is there a good place to get the exact match paint other than NIssan (it's the bog standard grey model you see everywhere so presumably fairly common).

Chris, there always seems to be problems getting a good color match with scratches, normally the best option is Nissan or try Halfords. I think you will find that is black plastic, because funnily enough I was at our Dealer here yesterday and the PDC Guy was touching up a Second Hand Grey QQ with a Nissan Kit Color / Sealer, but the finish did not impress me. I actually asked if they used the “Mobile Paint Guys” and he just smiled - Dave

Here is an old post there are more : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=296

Just an example from Glyn Hopkins :

Having seen how impressive a repair to a bumper was on a friend's car - worse than yours which she occasioned driving out of the garage - I'd say take it to a specialist. Hers was about £150.

Looks like plastic. Never seen black undercoating on cars. Often white as my Pearl Black paint undercoat is and you may see that on your bonnet where stones have chipped the surface paint.

Give it a tap...see if it clanks like metal. If it is plastic it should bend quite easily on a gentle push

It's definitely plastic. Which I think will make painting a lot easier, no need for primers etc.
Got a £7.50 spray can from Halfords, painted some plastic pieces in the garage last night and they seem to be an exact match in the sunlight today, so I'm going to give it a go.

oh...thought that might need some sort of primer for a top coat to latch onto?
