67 Plate - Reg late 2017:
Just received a letter from Nissan Rickmansworth. Refers to production sub supplier spring part in Super Lock variant (RHD Only).

Impact is on Child Lock Switch which can move from locked to unlocked position....unintended.

Appears to be a 1 hour fix.

Hi Colin, this problem arose in the Press & Government Data in August / September time, it just goes to show how long the delay is to correct a Safety Issue - Dave 😏

Don't know why it should have taken so long to mount Recall campaign. Perhaps Nissan were arguing with the sub contractor over exactly what has to be replaced and costs? Having a part foreign sub contractor supply won't be fun?

This game during the kung flu thing won't be bloody fun either....

Literally all there fitting is a rubber grommet around the physical child lock switch that has 2 lumps which will keep it in the position you set it in, take like a minute to fit both sides.

I have recently had this recall done however after returning from Nissan and parking the car up on the drive, attempted to start it and now the battery is flat. I have managed to get some life to the battery with the help of my brother in law and his car/leads but on sitting in the car, the door the recall was done on is making a whirring noise and I can only think this has drained the battery. I rang Nissan and explained, they said to call my breakdown provider however I know it’s only since this recall was done. Can anyone help ? Thanks

Odd - as far as I know the only electrics in the door are the window motor and the door latch. Is there a continuous sound? Even with the ignition off?

I suppose the Dealer is expecting Breakdown to pick up an error code (DTC) for you? Diagnostics shows 3 door lock (actuator) motors present in each door. Lock & Super Lock. They are powered directly by the Body Control Module (BCM) and cannot self operate unless BCM has a problem..

Very difficult to determine whats driving the motor(s)?

Just got this letter the other day. For most folk, I would imagine, it'll be quite an easy process to get it sorted..... not for us though πŸ™„

We live in Orkney and our nearest main dealer is in Inverness. For those of you not familiar with the geographics of the north of Scotland let me explain.

To get to Inverness we catch a ferry at 8am which takes about an hour to get to a small port 5 minutes from John O'Groats. We then have to drive the 120 miles to Inverness (2 and 1/2 hours) and obviously the same route and time on the return leg. So, basically a whole day plus 250 miles worth of fuel and a ferry fare.

I've heard that in the past Nissan have paid expenses for recalls, I wonder if they'll pay in this instance?
