I've recently purchased new door cards for an aesthetic upgrade.
Does anyone know what the white cover/box is for on the inside?
I've un-clipped it is and totally empty.
I've added a couple of photos from the net but mine are the same. One marked FR and the other FL for obvious reasons.

I can make only guesses...
If it's not going against something while assembling or it doesn't provide any stiffness to the plastic or stacking support, then it must be involved with the logistic of this component similar to barcode scanning, or optical scanning orientation during inspection.
Interesting...

no idea, never taken the door panels off mine the days are gone when I could do my own work, maybe it's to help those bonny lads & lasses in that factory up the road from me in Sunderland, to know which dooris which, just like the comedian jimmy cricket had left and right on his wellies, no complaints please this is a bit of humour on a damp wet day

Have you tried popping the clips to see what is behind, if anything....if it's just for identifying the door card it seems like over kill when a simple sticker would do, just like the one next to it.

I un-clipped them as they do not serve any purpose that I can see, also rattled around like mad so that's one rattle sorted out 👍
Whilst fitting the new leather wrapped armrest I decided to take the centre console apart and rattle proof it. Strange but nearly all the securing screws were quite loose and not tightened?
I'm guessing that three years of motoring over our lovely smooth roads 😉 had loosened them.
Half an hour later and a metre of sticky felt the console is creak/rattle free and rock solid.
Next on the list is the creaky glove box and various other pieces of trim.

You probably be astonished to be told that these little white blocks could be life savers! They are actually designed to aid energy dispersion in the event of a side impact collision. Ergonomic and lightweight and fully tested. They shouldn't rattle (that would be annoying), however there should be four small contact points (nick named snake eggs) which help to minimise this, But if the door panel has been flexed, you may find that the tolerance has been opened up and that will be more movement. I suggest a layer of thin felt tape to eradicate this (which I think you have used on the console). The RH & LH are purely to assist original manufacturer stock control and then door finisher assembly. I hope this helps.
