Mystery black button

Hi everyone.

I've recently bought an immaculate 2012 qashqai NTec +. I've found a mysterious little black button located at the bottom of the centre console. Once pressed it makes a series of beeps. Mainly one long beep then eventually stops. I've added a photo of it. Does anyone know what it's for?

Vivadave, are you sure you are hearing noises when you press this “Button”. It appears to be 12V Plug In Socket when you look at this item or perhaps yours has been modified or this has even been added as an extra - Dave

Look under the 12v socket DaveBerlin, there’s a small ‘button’ with a black & red wire connected to it.

Haven't a clue - obviously aftermarket.

You'll have to trace the wiring.

I might be wrong here, but it could be that the previous owner had front parking sensors fitted that were not standard from factory so either dealer at the time or 3rd party fitted front sensors as well to give front and back, and this button energises these for use and first noise you here is to indicate that they are functioning.

There are sensors in the front bumper, but I've tried parking close to objects and no beeps are heard. I can see any sensors on the rear of the car as it's mostly black trim as you will know. Would be best if I could add a video showing what happens when I push the little black button.

Not sure if your answer has thrown up more questions than answers if you say there is front sensors but no beeping heard when parking close to objects??? I assume you did press this button and lit up before doing this front parking test? As if this is what it is for you would have to press it first as default for aftermarket which this might be would be off position otherwise when stuck in traffic que it would always be going off.
