Would not surprise me to learn the cost is around £500, parts are where all manufacturers make their main earnings. When I worked in aerospace it was a well known fact that the engines were virtually given away or sold a cost, it was the maintenance contracts and parts that made them all their profits. With a mirror cost like this I will be holding my breath every time I drive down a narrow lane with some speeder in a 10 year old car coming towards me

With the kids around where I live investing in auto folding mirrors suddently worth it nowWhen you think these cars (or equivelant) are shipped across the world to USA and sold to public for around 15K our money how can a headlight cost 1K each and £500 for each mirror and £100 just for the sat nav SD cardIts just crazy im suprised we dont ask when buying a new car for a spare part costlist on things that break off or worrying about the depreciationWe spend ages worrying about 2mpg shopping around and completely overlook cost or replacing parts Sadly mirrors / headlamp lens and windscreens etc do break but who puts 1k away for the rainy day

Well at least we can console ourselves a little with our Nissan. You only need to explore the equivilent costs for a BMW, Audi or Merc to realise the truth of the Jonceebbe comment

I got a final quote from my local dealer after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing...So, you're curious what a new Tekna wing mirror will cost you:£384.92 inc parts, vat, labour and painting
ferris...bloody hell. That is extortionate.
No it's a mirror albeit an expensive one! I suspect that it will be the same for most of the parts that have cameras and/or electronics in them. We're a captive market with no escape.

On country lanes I tend to turn mirrors in, if vehicle approaching seems a bit wide

I'm wondering now if turning my mirrors in all the time will give me better fuel economy...
