Heating poor

Hi, First time post.
I have a 2014 1.2 Tekna which until recently had a superb heater, Normally in the depths of winter the heater settings never went above 21c and once warmed up I usually set at about 16.5/17c as it was too warm. I had a minor accident (someone reversed into me...honest!) and I had it repaired. Since then unless I set it (even now) up to the high 20's it's not at all warm. At 21 it is not even luke warm. I took it back to the body shop, they deny any knowledge say they only fitted a bonnet and grill. It seems to be a great coincidence that the two things happen at the same time but perhaps....

Does anyone have any idea of possible causes? I have previously been told that Qashqais don't have great heaters but that was never an issue with mine.

Never had an issue; the shunt must have caused some damage to the heating system, and any repair should be paid
by other driver's insurance.

Just a simple question was the Condenser or parts associated with this damaged - leaking or punctured, loss of Air Con Fluid as this is the major problem with Heating System of the QQ - Dave

Hi Dave,
No there was no damage to condenser as it simply put a crease in the bonnet, A/C is fine. The heater was fine after the accident but wasn't after the repair. The condenser was replaced as a recall for Qashqai. The repair shop have denied any responsibility. The other driver fully admitted liability and consequently I didn't even have to pay any excess.

It could be any number of things. It sounds most likely that it's linked to work done in the body shop, so take it back and insist they investigate and rectify. Speak directly with your insurer first and they will advise your correct course of action.

in ye olden days I'd have said these symptoms sound like lack of water/coolant in the system (radiator/heater matrix) as it was fairly common in 60's cars.

Get back to your dealer and/or bodyshop pronto

I did take it back to the bodyshop but they say that it is working, they turned it up to 28/30 c and it blew out hot. I argued the case but they say it works, I say it doesn't work as well. I was just hoping it's something very simple but looks like I will have to go back to my insurers. Thanks for all the replies.

Good for them, but did they check the temps of 16,5 / 17C that you usually drive with and with the Air Con "ON" - Dave
