Anyone noticed the boot opening very slowly in cold weather?

Similar to this video:

I assume this is caused by low quality struts?
Has anyone got them replaced under warranty?
Is there a new part?

Thanks

I've noticed this the past couple of years on my '64 plate QQ, though not this year just yet as the weather has been kind so far, to the point where I seem to bang my head every couple of weeks. But maybe that's just me being clumsy ;) ...

Those struts can wear out on any vehicle. How old is your QQ? When you replace them, you may be surprised how heavy is the rear hatch.

Edit: What does "64 plate" mean? I am in Canada and am not familiar with the term.

Funpig, take a look at this attachment I also have a problem with this 64 Plate terminology as I now live in Berlin, Germany - Dave 😉
I solved the “Headache” Problem by getting our Dealer to install new Struts (Guarantee) but in the winter they do slow down
(headache pills are always available 😂)

WARNING : be careful the weather has changed, it’s colder and it is highly likely the “Tailgate” is slowing down on opening. Do not rush in otherwise you will have a Big Headache or just wear a Crash Helmet - Dave 🤣

Have had this for sometime now. I have been denied a warranty claim despite having extended warranty for 4 years. Now Nissan has agreed to meet 60% of the cost as goodwill. The total is an eye watering 400 euros.

Should I go in for this? . Can this get progressively worse? Like failing to open or close? Any input welcome. Thank you.

ThreeSixty, as I have mentioned before our Struts were replaced and are OK in the normal weather but now @ -6*C they are again much slower. I get in the habit of just standing back and raising the Hatch by hand. There are most likely some more powerful Struts around but wether they have the same dimensions is the question and then it is highly possible they could damage the Hatch due to being quicker and more powerful.
Have you tried sourcing a “Cheaper “ alternative to keep you outlay down as it will still cost you @ Nissan €160 - Dave 😉

Here is the Nissan Part #90450-4EA1A as removed and installed on ours.
As an alternative this Ad is from AliExpress but in the UK you could try SGS : https://www.sgs-engineering.com/gas-struts.

For non UK members this link explains our registration system; my QQ was registered in May 2014, so start
of my plate is xx14. If registered say in Sept that year would have been xx 64.
