Front wheel arch lining

Does anybody know what these slots are for in the front wheel arch inner lining on my new
My previous 3 Qashqais have not had them.
Seems to go against all common sense to have holes in the wheel arches.
Dealer has no idea.

Sons Leon st has them we thought they were to ensure water and debris to clear away

Thanks for the reply. Never had a problem with water and debris on any car I’ve had in over 50 years of motoring. Think I would prefer to not have them.

Heat dissipation? They would encourage airflow from the front grille over or past the enclosed fog lights.

That's a complete guess tbh.

Is it only on 1 side ? The same side as the intercooler ? Sometimes it's done to increase airflow past the intercooler.
