Hi folks

I may be about to prove the saying "No such thing as a stupid question" wrong with this one.

I've had a good search on the forum but can't find exactly what I need to know. I've got a Nissan Qashqai 2015 model. I've purchased some decent aftermarket floor mats for the front and rear foot wells, however I can't figure how on earth to fix the driver side ones to the flooring. It looks like the fixing points on the mat should just push down straight onto the fixings on the floor, but I don't want to use too much force and break something, so thought I'd better check here first.

Images of the fixing points attached. How the heck do I get these in place? Brute force? Some other trick? Magic? Or are these the wrong fixings for my model of Qashqai?

Any help appreciated!

Stu

OK Stu, let’s give it a Go ! Basically it is a bit of Brute Force as you have to “Snap” the part shown on your 2nd Pic. with the 6 Lugs Over and into the Part in 1st Pic. This is normally a Hard Fit and if and when you change Carpets it is possible you can pull the Plastic Part out of the Floor Carpet which then leaves a Hole and the Plastic Part attached to the Removed Carpet 😡. It ain’t easy to refit - Dave 😉
I think you need to check the Part Diameters as on the 1st Pic it does appear to be on the large size. My parts shown are genuine Nissan Parts !

My Pic shows the 2 parts snapped together in the removal Rubber Carpet like you show. (Top 2 Parts)
The other 2 Parts is the Plastic Part with the 6 Lugs that Snaps over the Last Part which should be installed in the Floor Base Carpet :

I hope it is Clear 🙄

Welcome to this forum.

Does the small ring in the first photo not unclip?

Stu, as Gloucester has mentioned what you most likely have as these are non Nissan Parts is that you have Universal Parts to cater for different Snap Diameter sizes. As I mentioned check the Diameter as this is most likely another Snap On Part = Larger Dia - Dave 🙂
As mentioned by Gloucester without the possible Small Ring :

Thanks a ton all for the assistance! You were both spot on. The fixing on the underside of the mat detaches, leaving a much larger diameter socket to clip onto the floor fixing in the Qashqai. It's a little of a loose fit, so I'll monitor to see if it pops out too easily. If it does it should be easy enough to use a bit of plumber's tape or similar to widen the floor fixing shaft and get a tighter fit.

Thanks again!

Hi,

I'm having the same exact problem
I've bought some original Nissan Qashqai floor mats for my 2017 Tekna and they look great and are originals but don't snap on for the same exact reason

The stud in the floor nearest the driver side door has that ring around it

My question is simply is this ring how every Qashqai is out of the factory, or has the previous owner of the QQ ripped out the mats and in ripping the mat out left the fitting attached to the floor stud?

I don't want to rip that ring thing off if it's supposed to be on it?

Does anyone have a photo of a factory shipped floor without mats so I can see the studs as they're shipped?

Neil, we had originally the QQ J11A hence the photos from the Old Parts in the old posts, luckily I have a Good relationship with our Dealer and got a Hand Full of Carpet Parts for exactly the same reasons - there are differences !
We have now the new QQ J11B and the changeable Carpet has different fittings to the older model - Just hope this helps Dave 😉
This is the “Underside” of the New Carpet and shows that the Fitting is different to the #2 Pic (Old Model) in the next photo :
#1& #2 Press together.

#1 is the Insert or Cap / #2 is the Press / Push Fit” Part into #1 from underneath / #3 is the Part in the Main Floor Carpet which “Snaps” into #2 to prevent Carpet movement :

This is the Cap #1 in the changeable Carpet :

This part has a serrated Diameter and IMHO was a “Press / Push Fit” in the Main Floor Carpet :

For Safeties Sake I would measure the necessary parts and visit your friendly Nissan Store and ask to be sure !

This is the same fitting I have on my mats

I have a Tekna 2017 pre-facelift model - not sure if that is a J11a or J11b

I thought I would just be able to open the mats, press down onto the studs in the car and that's it

Neil, in theory this part is 12,85mm Dia and should just Snap In, but it is a pretty tight Snap normally to prevent any carpet movement. Pre Face Lift is the J11 - Dave :)
