Smell from fan - not the ac

Hello. I was wondering if anyone had a similar issue with this.

I have a smell coming from the fan but it goes away if I use the A/C. It smells like sweaty feet and is causing me to either have the A/C on every time it don't have the fan on at all. It happens in cool or warm settings.

I've tried to find a video or some instructions on how to clean the heater core but I can't find anything for a qashqai. Only things I do find are for the A/C but that isn't the problem. I have had the same smell in two previous cars actually with the A/C after not using them all winter and spring. It's the same smell so I guess it's just some bacteria in the system.

Any help will be appreciated.
