Speedometer Glass (Instrumental Panel)

Hi people,

My j11b Qashqai which i bought second hand a month or so ago - just noticed in the sunlight yesterday (pan roof) that the instrument panel glass or speedometer glass whichever it is called is scratched from someone cleaning it too aggressively ( previous owner as i havent done this yet )

Now I have read up online that you can fix this with products like Novus Plastic Cleaner or Meguiars Plastrx however some people also say it will take the anti glare coating off.

I want to know if anyone has tried doing it on here and with success or should I just leave it ? Bugs me when the sun is out cant notice it otherwise

Secondly does anyone know if there is anti glare coating on this plastic? I know the Nav screen would have it but not sure about the speedometer

I did do thisand noticed that post but this is more taking out the panel. I wanted to see if anyone has tried just meguiars plastx or plastrx with hand and if it ruins the coating. I'm scared to try it lol

Scott, you appear to have a J11B Model QQ so you must still have a Guarantee, why not give a Nissan Dealer a try to replace it as it is highly likely it has been wiped over and scratched. You might be lucky but surely this part is not that expensive to get exchanged, polishing does not always cure it, it can end up smeary / hazy - Dave

Scott, I remembered the post from Duncho and it appeared again recently and was sure it mentioned polishing - Dave

This was his first comment Page 1 :
I have spare Qashqai Instrument Cluster pretty badly scratched so decided to give it a try polishing it.
All I needed is:
- sandpaper (1000, 1500, 2000)
- Xerapol
- Meguiars Clear Plastic Polish
- polishing disc (medium hard & finish)
- high speed drill

First sand it with 1000 up to 2000 wet sandpaper. Add some Xerapol and using medium hard polish disc remove scratches left from sanding. Finally add some Plastic polish from Meguiars using finishing polishing disc. Result? ...see yourself

Dave i'm afraid I'm not brave enough to attempt taking sand paper to my new car lol I kind of wanted something that could just take of light scratching with a bit of rubbing by hand. Not sure there is anything that can do that - might have to live with it for now. Appreciate your help though

Scott, I was in the Plastic Molding game all my life from an Apprentice Toolmaker up to a Technical Mgr in Molding. I was always on the look out for good stuff and I saw this product in our repair shop in Boston and naturally got hold of some.
I used this Happich Semi-Chrome Paste for years on Metal and Plastic as we used this to polish hard steel to a high gloss shine for lenses. I still have some and it might be worth a careful try as you can get it from Amazon and it ain’t that expensive - Dave

Thanks for that information that is worth a try at that price, I need to order some stuff from Amazon so I will get a tube - Dave

I was sitting in the QQ this week just looking at the Instrument Covers and they appeared smeary and scratchy. I wiped them over with a soft cloth and then used a Lidl W5 Glass Cleaner which was lying around and after drying to me the appearance was better.
